Is anyone using CLE for High School...especially

Recommended Posts

My response won't be real detailed, 'cept to say that we used BJU for Reading for sixth grade and very much enjoyed it. I think the BJU Reading and Literature courses would gain high marks from many. We were all set to continue with BJU, then I stumbled across CLE Reading. We used it for level 7 and loved it. I will continue to use it for high school.

I love that the Light Units are so very user friendly and well organized. The student can learn to do much work quite independently. (no excuse for Mom to totally ignore the dc work, though!) CLE teaches about everything you'd want in a Reading/ Lit. program. And, coming from the Mennonite tradition, the reading selections are very virtuos and Godly. There might possibly be a viewpoint that I don't totally agree with, but not often. When that happens we just discuss our differences and go on. I have high respect for the CLE materials.

I should add that for the coming year, CLE has revised the Light Units for the Perspective of Life in Literature textbook. Nothing has changed about the textbook itself. The new revisions are very much laid out like the level 7 and 8 Reading Light Units. The previous Light Units for grades 9 and 10 Literature were not awful, but the new revisions are just better and easier to use. I believe the 12th grade literature textbook, Perspective of Truth in Literature does not yet have revised Light Units, but I would imagine that they will be revised at some point.
