What Spanish curriculum for Jr. High/High School?

Our friends want their older kids to start on Spanish soon. They are 11yo and 14yo, and doing well with Latin, and would love something like an interactive CDrom. What programs are recommended? We hear alot about Rosetta Stone, but it is nearly $400 for Spanish 1 and 2, and thus out of budget.

Any ideas??

Thanks!

I am going to try Spanish for Children this next year. I believe that they have a second level ready or in the works, as well - and I believe they intend to continue with higher levels.

For high school level Spanish, my older son used BJU's programming, which was very thorough. It was pricey, too, but not nearly so pricey as RS.

At Barnes and Noble they have quite a few Spanish choices. They might want to go browse there (or Borders, whatever is close by) and see if something "clicks". I am doing a couple of things--one being the "Berlitz Spanish Premier" that my ds15 can hardly wait to start! :001_smile: The name of the other one, embarrassingly, slipped my mind!:confused1: I ordered in last week for dd, who will be in 7th grade to use along with the program we already have for her. I like having different sources for them to learn from! Oh yeah, duhhh (been looking at too much curriculum lately!), it's "Spanish Now! Levels 1 & 2." http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b_0_11?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=spanish+now+level+1&sprefix=spanish+now

The other program that dd found on-line is called Visual Spanish: http://www.spanishprograms.com/ She has really enjoyed this, it seems to be more interactive than some of the others. We ended up buying the program (you get a lot more than the free online things) because they had a HUGE sale!

Both of these suggestions sound good to me. I am only familiar with the "Spanish Now!" book & CD.
