Karen in CO
I am doing my taxes this week so that I can do my FAFSA. It occurred to me that since the ex technically has dual custody that he might be required to do the financial stuff too. Does anyone know if he is supposed to? I didn't see anything on the site that wold give a clue.
angela in ohio
From the FAQs at the site: "If your parents have divorced or separated, answer only the questions about the parent that you lived with most during the last 12 months. If you did not live with one parent more than the other, answer only the questions about the parent who provided most of your financial support during the last 12 months. " That makes it sound like only one parent's info goes on it, and you would just have to figure out if it you or dh. HTH!!
Sharon in MD
According to one of the schools we are looking at, you only have to have your ex fill out stuff if you are filing the CSS forms. The CSS uses both parents, even if they are completely non-custodial, which doesn't seem right to me, but that is what the college told us at their financial aid seminar. :(
Susan in IL
From what I understand on the FAFSA it is only 1 parent, not both. Ds's girlfriend used her dad's financial info because he was not remarried (but has a live in) and his income was way lower than her mom and stepdad.
