Karenciavo
Did you have your student watch any of those "How to Take the SAT" type videos out on the market? The kind with all sorts of tools to help students do well on the test. I was watching one this morning and I found many of the techniques time consuming and annoying; circle the "buzz" words, find the "compass" words, yada, yada, yada. I probably do a lot of what they suggest naturally (skim, positive or negative statement, etc.), but maybe some people need these types of tools. Did you find them useful? Thanks, Karen
Kareni
Some of those general SAT prep videos can be somewhat inane (not to say that there aren't good ideas hidden in there). However, one SAT DVD series that I do recommend is the SAT Math Review program from Chalkdust. My teen found it worth her time. Gwen in VA
We didn't do video reviews, but I strongly recommend Rocket Revolution. My kids found that some "tricks" worked for them and some slowed them down. Do make sure that your child knows that she should take what she finds useful from the SAT prep materials and and that she should ignore the rest! Chris in VA
I like the Princeton Review for those tips and tricks.

Laurie4b
I recently searched for Rocket Revolution and found that the website has not been updated for years. Apparently, there have been no updates of the book, either. If it was a good resource, it is a shame.
Halftime Hope
I recently searched for Rocket Revolution and found that the website has not been updated for years. Apparently, there have been no updates of the book, either. If it was a good resource, it is a shame. Yeah, I don't know what has happened to the guy, but I still think the math instruction in the book is very applicable and *very helpful*, having seen all the "real" PSAT and SAT practice tests from the CB in the last two years. (DS is 19 and DD is 16, so we've done a lot in this area in the last two years.) hth
Sharon in MD
that doesn't make it less valuable as a resource since the test hasn't changed since the last edition. Besides using college boards official guide for practice, we found rocket and chalkdust to be great resources.
