Moni
What brand of 3x5 cards do you find to be of higher quality? I've noticed in the past few years the quality of index cards get worse and worse. Which do you find are still somewhat study, hold up well, don't stick together? And I refer to loose 3x5 index cards lined on one side (packaged per 100) . .....not anything on a ring or in a binder. :seeya:
Storm Bay
We haven't had any trouble with this so far. My main qualification for 3x5 cards is that they're made in the USA. I don't know if that makes a difference in the quality or not.

Storm Bay
Would you happen to know any brand names? They're not as thick as the old ones from 20 years ago, but not the thinnest I've seen and the lines are clear. I hate it when the lines are too faint. I have better quality 3x5s, but no packaging anymore (they're bound in a pad form and I just peel them off.)
Moni
I have better quality 3x5s, but no packaging anymore ;) So do I , but they don't have a brand on them. My Office Depot and Oxford cards are super flimsy, remarkably thinner, they and catch on each other, don't separate well. Thank you for your help! :seeya: Edited February 8, 2009 by Moni typos, typos, always typos

I do know that they were better when I was younger and that I've seen worse.
Moni
I haven't had that trouble, but this is the only Office Depot pack . It could be how these were stored prior to my purchase? I just don't want to buy another 300 of them if there were an obvious better brand out there somewhere, order from internet, etc. Longing for the good ole days, :seeya:
LaJuana
Exacompta index cards are a French product that are thick and acid free. They have a grid on one side instead of lines. I think they usually cost about $8/100, more than the cheap Oxford cards, but worth it when making Latin vocabulary flash cards or other cards that you need to last. Here is one source: http://www.thedailyplanner.com/graph-index-cardssmall-p-9189.html I have been so frustrated at the reduction in quality of index cards (and other products) in the past few years. For only a few pennies more, the cards could be made to the same quality specifications as they have always had. Now most of them are made in China and the quality is abysmal. Another idea is to go to your local print shop and ask them to cut a package of card stock up for you in the traditional 3 x 5 size. These make a reasonably priced alternative, though it does take a few minutes more than tossing a pack into your cart while doing other errands. If you phone them in advance, they should have them ready for you to pick up. Levenger sells 3 x 5 cards that are higher quality than your discount store reduced quality brands like Oxford. They are ruled portrait style, which may or may not suit your purposes. http://tinyurl.com/dfv8a7 A final possibility would be to order a box of blank Vis-Ed cards. They are smaller than traditional 3 x 5 index cards, but for many uses, the size is adequate. They cost less than $10 for 1000 cards. http://www.vis-ed.com/products/productdetails.asp?s_UPC=781556370816 I feel like an old woman when I grump about the decline in quality of index cards "these days," but I can't help it. They used to be a very useful and long-lived learning tool, and I miss ready access to such a simple product. I miss the thicker ones, too, and won't buy made in China when I have a choice, which is most of the time.
