ACT Permitted Calculators ?

I have a question about the calculators permitted for use during ACT testing. I have been to their web-site and read it several times.

My question is: has anyone used a TI-83? It is not on their "not permitted" calculator list, so I'm thinking it would be ok. But, I'm just not sure.

Should I have dd take both the TI-83 and her plain ole four function to see which they permit?

When my older dd took the test, she just took the four function because she was comfortable with it, but this dd uses the TI-83 all the time and is very comfortable with it.

What does the Hive Mind think?

My tutoring kid used his TI-84+ and was fine.

The whole TI-89 thing is interesting -- as Brigid says it's common for calculus students to need to use it for class, although it also seems common for calculus students to be forbidden to use it (because it does too much). I'm not sure what the pattern is... but I'm sticking with the TI-84 for now!
