My niece is pursuing a bachelors in business administration and wants to do an internship this summer. She attends a small school and not many career counseling resources. Any ideas on where she could find internship opportunities for undergrads?

Please let me know. Thanks much!

There are usually some listed on LinkedIn. This hasn't been terribly helpful for my oldest, who needs her internship in a foreign language, lol, but straight business majors will find more choices.

She can also attempt to set up her own. If she wants it to be a formal internship that will earn her college credit, then she needs to go to her department and get the list of requirements. Businesses who have not done internships before may be open to the idea if she is willing to do all of the legwork.

Unless you are an engineering major, even paid internships can cost you money, because you have to pay for the credit hours. If she doesn't need the hours, or her major does not require an internship, she might just straightforward working for a company.

What year of study is she in?

Does she have a major or specialty she is pursuing within business administration?

Is she looking for a paid internship?

Is she looking for an internship for college credit hours?

Does she have any work experience?

At this point, most of the major, formal internships through established internship programs that recruit students nationally would be filled for the upcoming summer.  She will be much better off pursuing internship opportunities with local companies (either local to her hometown or her university) for this upcoming summer.

This website is still posting internships in my area. Indeed.com it has internships for a variety majors including business.

Also, talk to people you know and she knows about internships. I know college students who have found internships that way. Good luck to her.

Even if she doesn't find an internship for this summer, she will have a starting point for next summer.
