Here's a house for you!

Sometimes I see listings like this and I have to admire them. Those are people who lived how they wanted to. There was no thought to resale or hgtv.

And you’d always know what you could get them for Christmas!

I agree. I admire his creativity and respect the time spent. I couldn't buy the house because I would almost feel bad throwing everything and gutting it.

The basement looks like it would host the best bingo nights!

Bingo? With all those little two-tops, my first thought was speed dating!

And am I the only one whose immediate reaction to the bedroom statuary was, "Yikes! Who could close their eyes with all those weeping angels right over the bed!"

(Yeah, I know they're not all angel statues, but... first impressions.)

To each his own. Thanks for the linked article, his design background explains a lot.

Not Elvis.

Liberace.

I was just going to post the exact same thing!!!!

There do appear to be clues that Elvis may be lurking in the basement, but it's definitely Liberace upstairs.

    :coolgleamA:    :smilielol5:

ETA: And why, oh why, is there a rug on that ceiling????

Oh, that 70s room! Dark paneled walls. Orange furniture. Nooooo!

Whenever I see a house like that with decorative stuff everywhere two thoughts come to mind. 1. The owner(s) have no children or grandchildren. 2. I feel sorry for the person who has to dust all those things. Yes, even if they've been hired to do it and are paid well.

In the other thread about messy homes, we're talking about giving tours of houses and whether or not people like giving/going on a tour.

I want to go on a tour of this house!  Each room is better than the last!

And I have to say, I actually love the wallpaper in the blue bathroom.  The matching curtains should go, but I love the paper.  I like a tiny bathroom with crazy wallpaper.  Bathrooms are allowed to be a little crazy.

Some of it was lovely. Not at all my style and I would hate to live in it but it appealed the 8 year old princess inside of me.

The garage was cool. Yet the yard seemed so plain compared to the house.

I liked the garage too.

I actually love 90% of it. The grouted in and nailed down features, like the bathrooms and kitchen and a fair bit of the tile and mounding, are timeless and well done. Some paint and removing the mirror wall would go a LONG way. That’s a really nice home with a lot of potential and I kind of adore some of the crochet and kitsch, even if it would be way too much upkeep and dustcatching for me.

That master bath is a mid century masterpiece and I hope nobody touches it except for paint and decor. The kitchen needs very little too.

The basement looks like it would host the best bingo nights!

Did you see the double ovens above the stove? Wow. Some of that house was a mid-century masterpiece!

I have a running "tacky house" board on Pinterest that both my sister and I pin on. This wins the award. As a self-described connoisseur of tacky homes and their decor, here is my running commentary by photo number:

1& 2 - That is a great setup for an outdoor "shabby chic" wedding.

3 - Disco with Liberace! I want the puffy bean bag chair. Sort of. Not really.

4 - Lots of statuary here - those trumpeting ladies set the tone for the whole room. I definitely don't want the puffy bean bag chair. I think they are ottomans.

5 - Mirror arrow - you are here!

7 - That ceiling is indescribable.

8 - Jokes on  you, joker!

9 - Just say no to the mirrored ceiling.

10 - What is on the ceiling here? Ewww...

11 - Gobble gobble

12- 14  Those must be the circa 1950's appliances. They couldn't afford to update because they were  paying for statuary!!

15 - It's cake icing, that's what it is!!

17 - No words. None.

18 - I'm sensing a theme, now.

19- 21  - So, they crocheted their ceiling, right? Unbelievable. Just, wow. Is that talent, or ??

22 - More of the theme!

23 - 24 - That staircase - those busts!

25 - Have a wandered into a strange museum?

26-27  - Because everyone needs black plastic bedding (I know, it's probably protective) in order to placate the sentries.

28 - Wait, is it velvet? Because who can resist black velvet bedding that resembles plastic at a distance? Plus, slippers!

29-30 - Office closet, I suppose.

31- 32  - I've never been afraid of a bathroom before...

Oh, gosh. I must stop. It's too much!!!

I just can't fathom the damage my children would do if I let them loose in there for even one minute. :scared:

This!

It would be fun to I walk through sans children though.

I liked the white and silver room.

Too many statues everywhere though!

"Sale includes full contents of the house" I'd buy it just for the cars!

Ahh, that makes sense. I was wondering why they were showing so many pictures of all the stuff inside. My goodness, all those statues. So creepy. And the stuff all over the stairs. Even if I liked the horror of a house, I wouldn't want to deal with all the STUFF I don't want to keep!

I’m just...speechless about the disconnect between the all white/silver living room and the totally outdated kitchen. It’s not fancy in there at all! The rooms with the paneling don’t go at all with the fancy rooms.

WHY are all the beds twin size?

WHY is it only allowed to be shown on sunny days?

What in the world was that basement entertainment area all about? all the tables and the stage w the fake Elvis.

I want to talk to the neighbors so bad.

As I looked at all of the statuary I couldn't help but remember reading my son's Percy Jackson books years ago and Medussa turning everyone who looked her in the eye to statues. 😳

Or Dr Who. Don't blink.

"2.2" in a real estate listing means 2 full baths and 2 half baths, I think. So there's your four.

I’ve never seen it listed that way. I’ve seen 2.5 to mean two full baths and a powder room. 2.75 is two full and one with a shower but no bath tub.

But I’ve never lived in Michigan.

I guess maybe it varies by market or I am not remembering things correctly!
