Seasider
one where most of the human race now spent all of their free time inside a video game. Anyone else eager for Ready Player One? And a little creeped out that it's not too hard to imagine such a reality?

The "shells" for her ears. I think of that whenever I see someone checked out with earbuds in. Rachel
I liked the book even though it’s not usually the genre I read. I haven’t decided yet it I’ll see the movie.

marbel
I got my husband the book for Valentines Day. That might make me weird. Why would that make you weird? :-) I read it and handed it off to my husband. Then our son started it but didn't care for it. So I could see it as a movie date night. I don't even remember the last movie date night; probably before we had kids.

So I could see it as a movie date night. I don't even remember the last movie date night; probably before we had kids. I think there's so much narrative at the beginning, it's a slow start. But the background had to be laid. My son gave it to me after he finished it and I wondered that he stuck with it long enough for the action to start. I personally am enjoying the blast from the past (not completely finished with the book yet). Cline (and the Stranger Things writers) hit a gold mine of a target market. It appeals to us for the nostalgia, the younger ones for the gaming culture & action, and to all for its David-vs-Goliath elements. And a Spielberg film. Date night!
BarbecueMom
I wanted to like this book so much, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I'll probably see it, even though I'm not a Spielberg fan, because I'm curious to see all the geek nostalgia Easter eggs in a movie that is about finding "Easter eggs". The OASIS does creep me out though. I still haven't been able to get through Stranger Things either!

6packofun
I tried to read the book twice and the overabundance of pop culture references just drove me away. Dh liked it, so I will await his review of the movie.
Mothersweets
I listened to the audio book - it's read by Will Wheaton and he does a fabulous job! https://www.audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fantasy/Ready-Player-One-Audiobook/B005FRGT44?ref=a_a_search_c3_lProduct_1_1&pf_rd_p=e81b7c27-6880-467a-b5a7-13cef5d729fe&pf_rd_r=NZ9CXK3TJRNT4P47NGTM& I'm looking forward to seeing the movie but am hoping it won't ruin the story for me.
