HollyDay
I have dark circles. No, I'm not sleep deprived. Yes, I'm stressed (aren't we all?). I'm 55 (which I'm told almost guarantees dark circles). And I have allergies. Concealer makes it worse. The cream concealer makes the lines and creases look more pronounced. Powder concealer settles into the lines and wrinkles. A combo makes it look heavy. Does anything diminish the dark circles?
Mommyof1
I have those, since I was a young child. Mine are do to my allergies. https://ctsinuscenter.com/blog/knocked-allergies-allergic-shiners/ Edited February 17, 2018 by Mommyof1
gardenmom5
do you have a wheat allergy?
GinaPagnato
I recently upgraded my concealer to a more creamy and slightly heavier brand. It seems to be working better for me. The older I get, the worse those circles look! I've even considered putting some concealer on before going to the gym because I'm pretty sure I look like I'm sick! HollyDay
do you have a wheat allergy? not according to the allergy testing. But, I did go gluten free about a year ago.
Katy
I developed mine after the wheat allergy developed. They went away when I started not only avoiding wheat, but all sources of gluten because other grains are contaminated with wheat. When I stopped getting contaminated hives and dark circles both went away.
SparklyUnicorn
I have the same due to allergies. I haven't found anything that works. (I don't eat wheat so it definitely isn't that.)
KungFuPanda
Have you tried color correcting? If you have a peach or pink lipstick, try using a tiny bit of that on your circles, then a tiny bit of concealer. (It’s like when you use a green tint to cancel out red skin.) I use a lot less product this way so nothing is settling in weird ways.
Alicia64
I also have dark circles which seemed to get worse when I lost weight. Just my .02, but I think if you gain weight in your face, the dark circles recede. My super thin sister -- we're both over 50 -- has also had dark circles since she was a late teen. I follow Dominique Sachse -- a Houston news anchor -- and she recommends these products (I haven't tried any yet, but plan to and can report back): Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment in medium $8.99 Colorscience mineral corrector kit, pricey. Another woman wrote a book called Make Up for Those Over 50 (or something like that). She was a former magazine editor and shared what works and what flat-out won't work. The under eye items she said worked: Cle de Peau Corrector Concealer -- expensive but worth it (she says, not me) I haven't tried. Maybelline New York Cover Stick -- haven't tried. Almay Line Smoothing Under Eye Concealer -- I've used this for about six months. The one piece of advice I found helpful: don't rub the concealor in like lotion. Instead dab it with your ring finger. it's been okay. I'm not wowed. I want to try some of the others above. Alley
Shelly in IL
Elf makes a dark circle pencil (maybe pencil is wrong word - crayon ??? You use it under concealer) that is orange-ish. It works for me. I’m 51. Also tarte Shape tape concealer is awesome when applied with a concealer brush- doesn’t settle into fine lines. elegantlion
I'm 50 and have had them since I was a kid. I use concealer, I use an ELF brand, but not a pencil. The key for me is to find the right shade, too light and it's glaring, too dark and it does nothing. Also make sure you are staying hydrated, mine are worse when I'm tired and not drinking enough water.
J-rap
My dd has these, and it's all about allergies. Find the right allergy meds, and the dark circles are gone.
lewber
I use the pink eye primer from smash box and the cle de peau concealer.
6packofun
Eye primer and Maybelline Facestudio Master Conceal (comes in a tube, only need a tiny amount).
MEmama
I have dark circles on the corner by my nose, so not under the eye but the same problem I guess. After trying lots of products that don't do anything, I've been pretty happy with a concealer from Pixie (recommended here, of course). I think the color is called apricot or peach. It has good coverage but the texture is light and it doesn’t settle into lines or look heavy. I’m pretty fair and I’m using the lightest color.
LarlaB
I am 41 have food and environmental allergies and reallllly dark circles. Ironically, I LIKE when my under eyes get puffy (when i have too much salt or am camping and no air purifier) because it seems to help hide the dark circles. Anyway I use Maybelline Instant Age rewind as listed above- super easy to apply, great texture and stays on.
