macmacmoo
9 year old is asking for more farming books. He likes Farmer Boy and Little House in the Big woods because they talk about farming and how they prepare for different seasons. Anyone know of other books? HomeAgain
Hmm....Strawberry Girl (Southern Florida) Blue Willow (Doris Gates) The Velvet Room (Zilpha Keatley Snyder) (both of these migrant workers in California's Central Valley) Charlotte's Web I read all of these as a kid and loved them.

Laura Corin
There is a series of books by Dick King-Smith about a girl who wants to be a farmer. http://www.dickkingsmith.com/book-category/the-sophie-books/ They might be too young for him, but I don't know. The Milly-Molly-Mandy books are not specifically about farming, but there's a good bit about the seasons in the countryside (gathering berries in autumn, etc.)
Rosie_0801
The Fat of the Land, by John Seymour.
Tanaqui
Google also suggests Farm Kid by Sherryl Clark and Star Jumps by Lorraine Marwood. *thinks* I'm sure some of Peck's books must also take place on farms or in farming communities. HomeAgain
And it might be silly, but have you thought about Pathway readers? They're heavy on farm stories.
Meadowlark
I agree with Pathway, and also Rod and Staff chapter books. My farm loving son really loves those.
Paige
He might like Hank the Cowdog for a different perspective. Hank lives on a ranch which is kind of like a farm.
Farrar
How has no one mentioned Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer yet! I'll also add Sugar by Jewell Parker Rhodes, which I haven't read yet, but which a 12 yo was just telling me was good.

Hobbes
Along Came A Dog. Chicken farming from some animals' perspective, so a bit different! It was a hit here. The last book of the Melendy series, Then There Were Five, is from a "family moves to farming community" perspective and it is just so fun. No preparation for winter sort of stuff, though.
