How to Find Replies to Your Comments

So, I can find when people like my replies, but I would miss if they replied to my reply on a post.  Well, if they quote you, I just figured out how to find out when that happens without having to check every post you made a reply to (which is tedious).

So, for instance, when someone quotes me, it will have "goldenecho, on" followed by the date, so if I search the forums for "goldenecho, on" then I get a list of all the posts that have replies that quote me!   Doesn't catch people who reply without quoting, but it's better than other methods I was trying to follow up on those.

UPDATE:   Actually, this doesn't work all the time.  First, I'm noticing that I get the same results searching for "goldenecho" that I do for "goldenecho, on" and secondly, I notice that it's not picking up some recent posts where people quoted from me.  I thought maybe people mentioned me outside of the quote on the ones that showed up in my search, but checked and that's not the case.  Not sure why it's picking up some quotes and not others.

You can set notifications so that you get a notification when someone quotes you. (Notifications are in the little square box in the upper right of the page, to the left of your username). I just rely on that. Or are you saying that does that not catch everything either?

I knew about this...but doesn't that just give you notifications when there are ANY replies on a topic, not just replies to you?

I often do use that.  But if it's a popular topic that gets a lot of replies I don't always want to read every single one just to see if someone replied to me, specifically.

At the very top of the screen is a little envelope, then a square quotation box with a person inside, then your name and then “Sign outâ€. You can set it up so that the square quotation box will show you anyone who likes or quotes you. There will be a little number on the square quotation box with the number of people who liked/quoted you. If you click on it, you’ll see a list of who quoted or liked you and you can click on it and it’ll take you directly to their reply to your quote.

Or are you looking for something different from that? The above doesn’t give you notifications when ANYone replies on the thread. Only the people who quoted you or liked your comment.

Edited: because my keyboard is stupid and skips letters and adds spaces I didn’t want to add.

Yes, exactly. Just now when I came to the forums, my square box had notifications and one of them said, "goldenecho quoted a post you made". I clicked on the word "quoted" and it took me right to goldenecho's post in this thread.

I DO get notifications sometimes when someone just replies to a thread. I have never figured out any pattern to when that happens. It's certainly not for every reply on every post. But as far as I know, I do always get a notification whenever I am quoted.

You can adjust your settings to get notifications for different things (or email notifications if you are so inclined, though that seems to me like it would be a huge annoyance). Just click your username and go to "My Settings".

That is exactly what I was looking for!   Thank you so much.  I just didn't realize that was there!
