Laurie4b
Last night, as I was writing a post, things went wonky: 1.The two bars above the post were grayed out making options like boldface, emojis, color, links, etc. unavailable. 2. As I am typing, all of the words stay on one line. The words I've already typed move off-screen to the left. When the post appears, however, it's in normal format. I was able to type point 1 and point2 by using using the "enter" button on my laptop. Anyone know what is going on and how I can get back to normal posting mode? I've tried signing out and signing in and rebooting my computer.
EKS
Are you in the mobile version of the website? Try looking up how to get out of the mobile version for whatever browser you are using. This happened to me with my son's high school's website. I thought the school had done something terrible to the website, but my older son took one look at it and pressed some combination of keys and it was all better. Um, how would I know if I am on the mobile version? All sons are away at college and unavailable to serve as my IT squad. And do you know which buttons I should push? I'm fairly ignorant about tech stuff. Edited January 19, 2018 by Laurie4b

EKS
Try Command 0 (that's a zero).
EKS
Ok, it's command 0 for a Mac and control 0 for a PC. I think.
Laurie4b
Thanks so much for trying to help me. I am not on a Mac, so I tried Control 0. That usually makes the view 100% if it's gotten too large or small. But, sadly it didn't help with this.
klmama
I don't know about your #2 concern, but regarding the faded section for fonts, bold, etc., try clicking the toggle switch in the upper left corner of toolbar for the reply box. justasque
Oh that did it! Thank you! And EKS, thanks so much for all your attempts to help. I appreciate it! To be clear, the toggle button is a feature, not a bug. :-) It allows you to edit the normally-invisible formatting code. It can be useful when you copy and paste something which brings in a font or color or size you don't want, for example - just toggle, remove the codes, and untoggle to check it before posting. Generally speaking there's a code before the formatted section, and one after - like a code to turn on italics at the beginning of the italicized section, then one to turn it off at the end. To see what I mean, try using the italicize button on part of a post you're writing, then before you post, hit the toggle button to see what codes you've put into your text. No need for your college-based IT squad!!! You've got this!!!
