nixpix5
I need to find out if Prima Latina is necessary before Latina Christiana. I know that , in general, MP says "no" but for those of you who have used it, what are your thoughts? DD will be in 3rd next year and I am thinking about starting in June. TheAttachedMama
No, it is not necessary at all. Even Latina Christiana is not necessary. They are both intro classes. The first “necessary†course is first form. Of course being exposed to Latin at an early age only makes it easier once you get to the form series. Rosika
I started two with Prima Latina in 3rd grade. Both did well and it was a nice gentle introduction. Neither minded the quick review of the same material the following year in Latina Christiana. I taught Latina Christiana at co-op to 4-6th graders. Only mine had taken PL in 3rd. None of the other kids had problems with LC as their first exposure. Some struggled a bit at understanding the grammar terms, but that's reflective of their grammar exposure IMO. 2_girls_mommy
PL is totally not necessary. I agree that LC isn't necessary either before Form series, but using it with all of the extras- prayers, songs, and history gives a great start before hitting the grammar of Form series.
