Advanced Flylady:

This week the Flylady is focused on Zone 2 - The Kitchen

Friday - Clean out your purse/car and date night!

We use each Friday as our De-Clutter your Purse and Car day. This only takes a few minutes and saves us lots of time later. Without the candy wrappers, old receipts, and other trash in your purse, finding your car keys becomes a breeze! Removing all the clutter and trash from your car ensures that you won’t be hit by any UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) in the event of a crash. Set aside a few minutes just for these two tasks each Friday. Here’s a list of things to toss:

  • Old gum and candy wrappers

  • Soda bottles

  • Scraps of paper/old receipts

  • Drive thru bags and cups

  • Jackets/coats/shoes

Set your timer and get to it.

Friday is also Date Night. Relationships have to be nurtured. If not, you are going to wake up one day when the children are grown and not know the person you chose to spend your life with. It is up to us to make sure we grow together! Now don’t think I am going to leave out you single people! We all have relationships! Some are marital and others are friendship. As for those friendships that you have let fall by the wayside because your home was too messy for people to come over, it is time to pick up the phone and just say hi!

Relationships are not just inanimate objects; they are made of people with feelings. When we open up our hearts and let someone else in, we become better people!  We can’t just ignore the relationship and expect it to stay the same. People need attention! You need attention! If you give it, it will come back to you! I promise.

Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday):Today is our last day in the Kitchen! For today I want you to grab your broom and your mop.  Sweep your kitchen floor really well and then mop.  There are several ways to mop a kitchen floor and no real wrong way.  Hot soapy water and wipe.  There is no "perfect" mop and no "perfect" way to do it.  Just Do It!

Don't obsess and get caught up in perfection!  It won't matter if you don't mop the way your Mother did as long as you do it.  Remember House work done incorrectly still blesses your family!

Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today we are going to play Hide and Seek! We are going to seek out all the stuff that is hiding underneath our beds!

Set a timer for 15 minutes and get to it. Pull one thing out at a time, if you love it and need it, put it away where it belongs. If you don't love or need it put it in a give away bag. If it is trash, put it in the trash can!

You do not have do all of it today! Just for 15 minutes!

If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!

Get the mop I have, I love mine! Oh wait you wanted a quick mop right with no bucket? Here is my mop if you want to know what I have. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WSWGVZQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Today I would like to accomplish:

  • breakfast
  • lunch
  • snack
  • educating ODS
  • educating YDS
  • hot spot bedroom
  • clean stove top (30 minutes in zone)
  • wipe down pantry door (forgot this yesterday)
  • DH's laundry
  • update blog
  • 30 minutes of ME time
  • Make sure both boys are ready for German
  • order quilting supplies
  • get cabinet ready for water filter

That is all I can think of for now. Hopefully that will be good for today.

Tonight is pizza and movie night so we are going to get pizza from Uno's and watch Grand Tour tonight. Funny how today turned into that. Too bad DH is gone every Friday night but the boys still love Friday nights. :)

Our washing machine broke and the repair man got the part but won't be here until Thursday to fix it. So I'm hoping to do a few loads at a friend's house.

DD11 came down with something like the flu.

DH and DS12 are taking the car camping this weekend.

So I don't know how I'll be productive! Argh.

I guess my to dos are:

- clean sink before I go to bed

- clear the 2x2

- order books for my German book club

- get rid of books I've read from book clubs and don't care to own anymore (that would deal with a lot of the junk on the 2x2)

- laundry at friend's house

I'm tired today. I was very busy at the thrift store this morning and was super hungry when I left so I had to drive all the way back home for lunch. After resting a while, I went back out and ran my errands. When I got home I finished up today's chores. All that is left on my list is to dismantle a Lego building. I may do that tonight. It's an overwhelming project. Perhaps I should use a timer and just do it in 15 minute increments. I can do anything for 15 minutes. Knowing me, once I get into it, the timer will go off and I won't want to stop. It's just getting started that's hard.

I forgot to mention dinner plans in my list. Tonight is sub sandwiches from Subway although DH plans to eat leftovers. I haven't decided what I want yet. I like the idea of a sandwich but the leftovers in the refrigerator do need to be eaten. I'm just not a big leftovers kind of gal. So I have options and I have to decide by 4:30pm. DH leaves work at 4:40 and stops at the sub shop on his way home so we don't have to go back out again. I'm hoping ds will be ready to eat when DH gets home. If not, DH will have to go back out anyway to get ds's sandwich.

I'm rambling. I hope all of you are having a good day. Remember, anything done is better than nothing done!

PS: I don't even know how to shine my sink. I make sure all dishes are in dishwasher and run it before I go to bed but ds stays up all night so when I wake up, there are dishes in the sink. I empty the dishwasher while my coffee is brewing and put dirty dishes in. Oh, I make my bed before I come out of the bedroom and brush my teeth. So all of that is my morning routine. I don't use lace up shoes. I have rubber soled slippers that I love and wear all day in the house. If I need to go outside, it's okay, but I seldom do.

Fly on!

Where will “put away all the stuff family members put all over the place†fit into the daily routines?

I honestly don't know if I've got the  daily chores from Flylady, but I seem to recall I did.

Putting stuff away should be part of an end of day routine and should involved all family members who helped make that mess. Even little kids know how to put toys in a box or on a shelf. I think we got our clean up song from Barney when my kids were little. We sang it while we did a fast run through of the living areas and picked up toys. If this job is too big for only once a day, make it twice a day at a set time.

I have a weekly list that is broken into days. I chose chores based on how often they needed to be done. I think I sweep the house 3 times a week. I sweep the foyer steps once a week. Those chores just don't need to be done daily. I do have laundry listed for every day because sometimes I'm in the mood to do only one load. So I might do laundry two days in a row. On a good day, I do 1 load of darks and 1 load of lights including towels. Then I don't have to do laundry again for a couple of days. So I'd put 'put things away' on every daily chore list I had, but I don't have the routines that Flylady sets up, i.e. morning and evening routines.

I set the bar super low, but I've gotten everything done that was on my list (except the "before bed" one)! Success!

I'll add a few more:

- put my teacher manuals/blank maps/sticky tabs in a hanging file folder box I have

- clear 15 pieces of clutter from my "teaching" area

- listen to 20 minutes of a webinar on Charlotte Mason dictation - I've got to get this working

- do my PT exercises (during webinar?)

Dinner is hamburgers and fresh buns. Yum!
