staceyobu
We are looking for a grammar program for 4th-6th grade students to use in a co-op setting. Ideally, they would come together once a week and learn a new topic and then complete practice exercises at home. Would GftWTM work? I'm also looking at maybe Junior Analytical Grammar or Shurley 5th grade.
purpleowl
I think it could work. However, you may want to allow for some of the lessons to be spread over two days instead of just one.
blondeviolin
It would be a lot of information each week. The beauty of GFTWTM is in the incremental steps that slowly elevates the student's understanding. I think if you're going to do it in a coop setting, I'd take a year to get through one semester. ondreeuh
I am using it with an advanced 4th grader (more like 6th+ level) who has done a good bit of grammar beforehand. I wouldn't recommend GftWTM for a weekly co-op, because it is designed to be done in small bits of instruction then small bits of practice, back & forth. It's not like one big lesson and then a week of practice. You could teach lessons and use Hot Fudge Mondays for various activities that reinforce grammar. You could assign some of the activities to do at home and then share with the gr I have an idea about using Igniting Your Writing 1 in a co-op, but our sessions are 6-8 weeks.
