Could Grammar for the Well Trained Mind be used for 4th graders?

Recommended Posts

We are looking for a grammar program for 4th-6th grade students to use in a co-op setting. Ideally, they would come together once a week and learn a new topic and then complete practice exercises at home.

Would GftWTM work?  I'm also looking at maybe Junior Analytical Grammar or Shurley 5th grade.

I am using it with an advanced 4th grader (more like 6th+ level) who has done a good bit of grammar beforehand. I wouldn't recommend GftWTM for a weekly co-op, because it is designed to be done in small bits of instruction then small bits of practice, back & forth. It's not like one big lesson and then a week of practice.

I have an idea about using Igniting Your Writing 1 in a co-op, but our sessions are 6-8 weeks.
