NOTE: I posted this when the expiration date for the code was 12/14, but Kareni just posted that the code is now good until 12/18.

Thanks, Kareni!

Here's my original post with the new date:

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but you can get $5.00 off a book purchase of $15.00 or more at Amazon.com if you enter the code BOOKGIFT17 at checkout.

The offer expires on 12/18. :)

You don't just have to buy one $15.00 book -- you can buy multiple books, as long as the total is $15.00 or more and you have all of them in your cart when you check out .

Bummer, I ordered last night!

As did I!  It's nice to know I'm in good company.

Regards,

Kareni

I contacted Amazon and told them I purchased a book without using the code and they refunded $5 to my credit card.  I was surprised, but delighted!  Try it!

I was about to do this when I checked my order; the book I purchased was $14.55.

I'm happy that they gave you the credit, Kassia.

Kareni

Thank you! This code even works on pre-orders! I just pre-ordered the next Flavia de Luce book that comes out in January for myself 😊, and the Christmas scratch-n-sniff book from another thread.

Amazon is so great about doing things like this. I was actually going to post some amazon praise because I called in to inquire about why sometimes a return results in an automatic refund once ups scans it in and other times you have to wait. I really just called to inquire but it was a small vent because I wanted I had a returned gift I needed to replace and I didn't really want to wait long (first world problems) anyway, as I was talking to her she says "well, there isn't much I can do but I see you have spent a lot with us and are a really good customer so I am giving you a $30 dollar credit to your account for you to enjoy. Happy Holidays."

I was stunned. At first I thought it was part of giving me my refund but then she said "no, this is separate for being a valued prime member" I felt like I had to pinch myself. It was so incredibly nice!

I also took advantage of the $5 dollars off $15 dollars by ordering the Doctor Who encyclopedia for one DS and a How to Draw Animals book for the other. It came to almost 16 dollars before applying the discount. Awesome deal :)

I know one day I will eat my words when Amazon has shut down every brick and mortar and can jack their prices up but I really so love Amazon. It is wonderful :)

Glad you had such a good experience!  I've been (mostly) very happy with their customer service over the years.

Is this only for new books or does used count also?

TIA

New, and only books sold by Amazon.

I was just going to answer your question, Mark, but I see that katilac beat me to it. :)

It might be worth checking the prices for new books because once you use the code, the brand new book might end up being cheaper than a used copy, especially if you have Prime.

Sigh, I went and ordered several books to get above the $15.  At least I saved money

The book I wanted was $14.82.  I ended up adding a little board book about squirrels that was $2.50 for my niece.  A book about squirrels was on my sis's wishlist for my niece, so even though I was done shopping for her, I bought it anyhow because essentially it cost me nothing.  The $5 paid all of the tax, the board book, and a tiny bit of the book I wanted to begin with.  LOL.  It seems like so many books on my wishlist are in the 13 - 15 dollar range.

Slightly off topic...I order frequently from Amazon and have never really seen any coupon codes before. I did use the one you mentioned. How did you find it? Was it emailed to you? Was it somewhere on their website that I'm not aware of? TIA

I just happened to be looking for a book for my son and the code showed up on the page, so I thought I would post it here. :)

I just saw "2. Offer expires at 11:59 p.m. (PT) December 18, 2017."

Here's the link with information.

Perhaps you can change the thread title, Catwoman, to reach more readers.

Regards,

Kareni
