My answer: the counseling for some of us in my immediate family. We're all being helped.

DH: our new bedspread that we like so much. We were using old blankets that were a hot mess. Now our bed looks nice and the bedspread is warm too. (Of course by the morning he ends up with the majority of it and I'm cold on the other side of the bed) :)

Not exactly mine, but oldest ds bough a 3D printer as soon as he’d earned enough money from his first summer job after high school. He *loves* it and has already printed another printer and has them both going all the time. I’ve sent filament to him to print me some Christmas ornaments. Best Christmas present ever since he’s enjoyed it so much.

I'm really having to think about this. This was the year of paying things off, saving, and mindful spending. I guess it's a toss up between the money DH and I spent on our pop-up vacation (first two week vacation in our married lives; first ever for me) and the money I am currently spending at the dermatologist to fix my skin problems. The gas money driving to the Cities to play tennis; without spending that money I'm not sure the I would have gained the confidence to do everything else that followed.

  • Decreasing debt
  • DH returned to school
  • DD1's counseling - a calmer DD is always a good thing
  • DD1's outsourced school - she is enjoying working for someone other than me
  • DD2's speech therapy - finishing her last sound this week after 10 1/2 years  :hurray:
  • DD3's gymnastics - she is exceling and enjoying her own "special thing"

ETA: I can't think of anything I spent on myself this year that warrants the list. I should probably think about findin something for myself next year.

We've had that kind of year...LOL. We actually discussed this earlier in the week.

Another for family counselling. A stretch on my budget, but well worth it.

Earlier in the year we also paid out-of-pocket for several IBS tests that brought about diet changes that made huge difference.

Being healthier and happier is a huge blessing.

Travel

Another one for updating my wardrobe. I bought a few new things from Stitch Fix but have consistently worn them this fall. Well worth the money. Especially since I hate shopping with a passion.

Also, a Bravewriter class this fall for my oldest. I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it but I was really impressed with the amount of feedback that ds got. It helped take off some of the burden from me as we started 9th grade. And even better, he recently agreed that it “would be ok†to take another one in the spring. This is a HUGE step forward from a kid who has hated every other writing curriculum/approach/class/etc. we have done.
