OrganicJen
I just want to share in case it helps others, how fantastic Build Your Library has been for my reluctant reader. My son had gotten to the point where he constantly said he hated books. He wasn't that way always, but for about a year he would talk that way. I avoided trying Build Your Library because I thought that a literature based curriculum was the opposite way to go with a reluctant reader. But for whatever reason I finally tried it and I cannot believe the change in my son. He literally makes comments about how much he loves the books he's reading EVERY single day and how great school is and how much he loves reading now. So, my point is that sometimes a literature based curriculum with lots of reading can be exactly what a reluctant reader needs.
