Every so often, I like to start a thread like this ~

From 2016: Have you spotted a unique gift? Post it here.

From 2015: Have you encountered a unique gift? Post it here.

Here's a gift I'd enjoy receiving: 2018 Bubble Wrap Calendar - A Poster Sized Wall Calendar with a Bubble to Pop Everyday

There are some uncommon gifts to be found at Pop Chart Lab:

A Diagrammatical Dissertation on Opening Lines of Notable Novels

or how about  Magical Objects of the Wizarding World

100 Essential Novels Scratch-off Chart

or for the film fan  100 Essential Films Scratch-off Chart

How about some leggings with personality?

Piano Key Leggings

Hamlet Book Pages Leggings

Have you encountered some unique gifts?  Please share.

Kareni

oh goodness, Kareni, I need the diagram sentence chart!!

here's something I found, it's a kid's guitar with just 3 strings, to learn the chords easier, and it comes with flashcards and there is an app with games for learning. It uses real strings and the 3 strings are the same when you move on to a normal guitar.

Loog Guitars

I have small hands, I'm thinking of getting one for myself later  :001_rolleyes:

Kareni, I'm so glad we are (virtual) neighbours!

After seeing it on one of the previous threads, my dad will be receiving the Frankenstein light switch:

EAIaIQobChMI49mfwPXj1wIVD7bACh2LDgGeEAQYASABEgJZ8vD_BwE

He got the Bubble Wrap calendar last year.

Remember the "Trotify"? I still dream about that. It is on all my wish lists.

I'm thinking of adding this to my list. It is a poster with all the dresses Elizabeth Bennett wears in the 1995 P&P.

I know a number of Jane Austen fans who would likely love that poster!  Thanks for the link, melbotoast.

Every year I just love this thread.

Me, too!

It's unfortunately a local thing, but I was thinking of giving my husband blacksmithing classes. It will have to wait until next year, however, as he's doing an aikido and iado seminar instead.

For the Jane Austen fan, the same site with the Hamlet page leggings has Pride and Prejudice page leggings as well (and a lot more).

That does look like a fun and decidedly out of the ordinary stuffed animal, dmmetler.  I hope she'll enjoy it as well as the book.

Is she/Are you familiar with Oh, Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty   by Joy Masoff?  It's a fun book to browse.

I'm getting my daughter a multi-tool hairclip!

That sounds intriguing, Chris.  Do you have a link to share?

I got my dd a similar (but less expensive) quilt from Bas Bleu.

https://www.basbleu.com/HW2527.html

That looks lovely, Selkie.  I hope she'll enjoy it.

I used to love getting the Bas Bleu catalog.  Here's another gift that I just found while looking around their site ~

Collective Noun Tea Towel

and for the Shakespeare fan ~

Great Shakespearean Deaths Card Game

and Lady MacBeth's Guest Soap set of 3

and for someone who likes to color ~

Colour Your Own Medieval Alphabet

and for the Latin fan (like my daughter who majored in Latin at college) ~

"Carpe Librum" Shirt

and for the pianist ~

88 Keys Bracelet

I'm getting my parents a night light in the shape of a balloon dog. I might get one for myself, too. They're adorable.

I'm getting my family (dh, the boys, and I) the complete Far Side cartoon collection ($55 for every cartoon on Amazon, $100 other places.)

I got my ds15 the bubble calendar last year and he loves it. The calendar is hung on a hollow wooden door and my dh jumps every night when that bubble is popped. POP!! It's loud on the hollow door. :)

I'm getting my nephew gourmet planet lollipops (each lollipop looks like a different planet--my nephew is 18, so this isn't a kiddie gift) and my other nephew a glass popcorn popper for the microwave (this nephew is 22), plus some nice popcorn and spray butter.

I get my dh a puzzle every year. This year (before they're not sold anymore), I'm getting three puzzles. White Mountain Puzzles has three puzzles of a house in different seasons. The puzzle looks like a doll house, so you can see inside. One puzzle is the house in the summer, one is on Halloween night with trick or treaters, and the third is at Christmas. For some reason, they don't put these puzzles on the same page or sell them as a group, but I'm going to buy them all. I think it'll be cool to give him one at Christmas, give him the second in the summer, and the third at Halloween.

Here's the halloween one: http://www.whitemountainpuzzles.com/searchprods.asp

PerpetualKid.com has a lot of irreverent stocking stuffers type items. A smidge more crass than sophisticated and closer to gag gifts (potty mouth, political and not exactly for kids but funny, goodforalaugh stuff).

Thanks for the link, Laria!  I'll be taking a look at it tomorrow.

I am a musical theatre nerd.  MIL was asking for gift ideas for me and I found this.

<dramatically swoons>

(I may be crushed if I don't get it.  I even included the list of show charms I wanted.  I can't make it any easier than that!)

What a charming (yes, pun intended!) bracelet.  I hope you'll post again if you receive it.

Kareni

My husband is an amateur astronomer.  It's too bad he doesn't care for lollipops, as this would be an inspired gift.  Is this the set you're getting, Garga?

Sparko Sweets Galaxy Lollipops Planet Designs

It's good to hear that the bubble calendar is a hit.

That night light sounds like fun, too.  Do you have a link you could share?

Just saw this lipstick last night: it's clear, but when you put it on, it changes to pink on your lips. And inside the lipstick itself is a tiny crushed flower. Click on the link to see. They're really pretty. I don't know anyone who I'd get it for, but maybe some of you do: https://www.lovelivingchic.com/products/color-changing-lipstick?variant=116756774917

DD15 has just begun her obsession with the theatre.  I ordered charms from that seller last week! LOL  We see Wicked next week.  And she will see Hamilton early 2018, then Waitress, the HOPEFULLY Dear Evan Hansen in the summer!  I will get her a playbill charm for each show:)

Perfect for all your homeschooling friends....

Page 20 of the Vermont Country Store Christmas Catalog has a 100% cotton denim jumper.

https://www.vermontcountrystore.com

Thanks for the chuckle, AK_Mom!  I've ordered from that company for many years though admittedly not a denim jumper.  They have fun Snoopy sheets and other products if anyone has a Peanuts fan.

Those are cute indeed!

My daughter would have loved one of these some years ago.  Hmm, who am I kidding?, she'd probably still enjoy one.

Star wars pjs for the family

That would be cute to go to the movie in.

That would definitely be cute!

What beautiful puzzles and puzzle boxes!  Thanks for sharing the links, 4Kiddos.

Also, I really love this store and have shopped there pretty much every year:

http://thewoodenwagon.com/

They always have beautiful toys and decorations that you can't find elsewhere.

You are not kidding about their items being beautiful, 4Kiddos.  I'd love to have a limitless budget to go shopping on that site.

I asked my mom to get me the Fairy Tale Cottage for Christmas :)

I am going to handcraft all of its contents. Never too old for a dollhouse, right?

How charming!  (I adore teensy things, like dollhouses/furniture.  I think half of the toys I buy DD's are secretly for me. :o  --> OOP Harry Potter lego sets <--)

When I was a young teen, I built a Tudor Greenleaf dollhouse from a kit. I think my dad helped me a little bit, but IIRC I pretty much did it myself. Years later, I gave it away to a friend with daughters and they got a lot of use out of it. Now that my kids are grown up, I thought it would be fun to have a little dollhouse of my own again. But this time, I don't feel up to making the house itself, lol.

Chronicle Books has a great sale until 12/15...35% off and free shipping.

They have neat stuff. I use one of their line a day five year journals and I like it a lot! There are different versions but this is the basic one: http://www.chroniclebooks.com/one-line-a-day-a-five-year-memory-book.html

I love this thread! I'm so happy to find the Tolkien release -- that's going to make a couple of my sons and a d-i-law really happy. Has anyone read it yet? How many stars would you give it?

And the Bas Bleu catalog! ::swoon::

I'm collecting a basket of board books for my new grandbaby and I found this adorable Counting Primer by catechesis books. (a kickstarter and picked up by a major publisher!).

Thanks for posting about the sale, happi duck; I'm always happy to buy books at a discount.

That line a day journal is really a good idea; I would have been far more successful with one of those when I was a teen than with a daunting empty page.

I love to give books as a baby gift; I like to give them with a copy of Jim Trelease's The Read-Aloud Handbook.

Anyone shopping for the military, or police or fire? I just got ds's "Cover Bag" for his cover (hat).  http://www.thecoverbag.com/ Dd uses hers ALL the time. They have "chest candy" totes, too--a wallet sort of thing for keeping medals and ribbons. The company goofed and sent me one that I didn't order.

Thanks for this suggestion, Margaret.  I'm happy that at least I knew the term cover!  Best wishes for your daughter's safety.

For the MT fans, to go along with your Playbill charms, why not put them on the cover? https://www.playbillstore.com/the-playbill-magazine-5-x-7-inch-photo-frame.aspx

Also, is this the multi-tool hairclip?  https://www.amazon.com/Mini-Multitool-Clip-Multi-Functional-Scrapper/dp/B010T7CGVE/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1512080409&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=multi+tool+hair+clip&psc=1  I see it available at ThinkGeek and several other places, too.  Definitely interested in this for dd!
