Hello and welcome to the Lounge!

Today's theme stems from a two part fact: 1) I don't really know what topics to ask you about today so come in and chat about anything!

and 2) when I met with a group of writers last night to get writing done I expected to get a lot more writing done but EVERYone seemed to be

in a chatty mood! :tongue_smilie:

Anyway, come in, sit or stand, and enjoy some adult conversation. No students allowed! Just teachers.  :iagree:

We have coffee and tea in that corner. Do you have a favorite flavor?

Over here we have a small sitting area by the fireplace. The fireplace hasn't been used in several years so please don't light a fire - let me get it cleaned first! Now, where to find a chimney sweep . . .

And over here, in the kitchen area, is a small fridge and pantry. If you can find something in there to your liking you're welcome to have it!  :lurk5:

I'll be in and out but mostly out for the day. We may or may not get schooling done today. I need to go to Costco and I promised the kids a movie this afternoon.

Come in and chat!  :coolgleamA:

Well today I'm trying to be more productive around the house. I plan on deep cleaning our entryway closet and the entryway itself. I have already cleaned my room, did dishes, and kept laundry moving.

I really think this is all meant to distract me from the fact that I need to work on my resume and I don't want to. To top that off there is a job now available at the same University that dh is highly qualified for. I already know he's willing to apply but now I have to help work on 2 resumes.

These job posting are causing me great stress. The one I'm applying for I know I'll at least get an interview. my mom retired from the department and heard from her old boss that they have no one in mind for the job, the hiring person really likes my mom, and I'm pretty qualified. Dh is even more qualified for the job available to him but we don't have any inside scoop on that department. I'll have to ask my mom to do some research to see if she knows anyone from that department, it is unlikely. He has applied for jobs in this department before and has never heard back. It is likely because they have inside people they want to hire instead of new people. This is incredibly frustrating because he is the one who wants to work not me!

Anyway, end rant. It helps to just write out my frustrations. I will now have some coffee, extra dark, and continue with the cleaning

I am making some ginger tea because my stomach seems a little unsettled right now. I just took my vitamins after lunch and they do that sometimes.

This morning has been moderately productive. I have lots of things to do for Thanksgiving that I can't do until tomorrow.

Taking today at a relaxed pace. No official school here this week, but dd is working on some things she got behind on earlier in the semester, which will be due soon.

Thinking about taking the kids and dog to the park this afternoon. Much more fun than yardwork!

I need a novel to read! I have several good non-fiction books, but vacation is for novels. Maybe I'll go peruse my shelves to see what is good for a reread.

It's been pretty quiet, and with Thanksgiving coming up, my writers' meeting is cancelled. So more quiet to write in!

Black tea, black as coffee.

You can use mine. Nice and cleaned over summer (best time to get the chimney sweep) and we had a little fire last night. Very cozy.

Making cheese roll to take to MIL's on Thursday. I'll probably snack on some this evening.

No school today. The boys are being quiet--writing and painting mostly, and they may go help with firewood cutting, splitting and stacking this afternoon.

Tea with honey.  Just about any kind of black tea. Earl Gray, Lady Gray, Irish Breakfast, Oolong.

Not much chatting going on because I'm still sick and the biggest thing right now is my voice is gone.   By the end of the day, I'm basically down to whispering.  Which should be interesting since I have a 4-H meeting tonight and I usually do the activity presentation.  Dh will have to do it tonight, but I've spent the morning preparing slides for him to use.

I also ran out to Best Buy about my computer but they were useless.  It died and won't turn on - probably due to a small amount of water that was dropped on it overnight when it was plugged in and charging.  Most likely shorted the mother board since the power wasn't cut off right away.  It's been 4 days so it's likely the water has dried up and isn't the problem anymore.  The computer is only 10 months old so we're going to try and send it for repair under the warranty.  Even if they can't fix it, hopefully we can get everything off the hard-drive.

But, ALL my documents are on that computer.  I did a backup about a month ago but I still had to recreate attendance lists, agendas, etc. for 4-H.  I'm just glad I have no classes to teach this week.  At least I have a few extra days to recreate what I need for those.

Coffee for me. It's hot again here.

I did drag the kids to cricket yesterday. I did some but not all the grocery shopping. I might online order the rest.

DH had a call out for his volunteer fire service stuff last night about 2 am and I couldn't sleep after that so quite tired today. Also had an evening out and DH had the kids. Kitchen didn't get cleaned up and I didn't even get all the shopping away.

I'm shifting school to afternoon today so I can catch up on a bit of housework while it's cool this morning and we can do seat work when it's hot later. Really looking forward to summer holidays now.
