DawnM
First of all......he is 67? What in the WORLD? Isn't he just 17? Second of all......this is all so sad to me. http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/18/entertainment/david-cassidy-hospitalized/index.html
Catwoman
It sounds like he desperately needs a liver transplant and possibly a kidney transplant as well, and I hate to say it but even if his body is strong enough to survive the surgery (which sounds doubtful,) I'm not sure he will qualify, depending on whether or not he is still drinking and how severe his dementia has gotten. It's such a sad situation, both for him and his family. :(

unsinkable
It really is. I have "I think I love you" running through my head. One of the bars I used to go to used to play this and we'd SCREAM the lyrics! Good times, good times...

umsami
I saw the partridge family on tour when I was little. I <3d David Cassidy. I was offended by those who implied who was at all related to Shaun Cassidy (who I did not find attractive at all.) He's so young. I remember him revealing the dementia not too long ago. While I would doubt he'd be a candidate for transplant, celebrities do seem to get different treatment. Larry Hagman comes to mind.
kewb
I am sad for him and his family. Dementia is a cruel disease and now the organ failure. May they find peace. Going to go play my partridge family playlist.

I could never understand the appeal of Shaun Cassidy, either -- all of the girls I knew were crazy about David (and maybe Donny Osmond, too ;) )but not Shaun! I know that Shaun and David were half-brothers, but I never saw any resemblance at all. Transplant rules have changed since Larry Hagman got his liver, and David Cassidy probably isn't really rich enough or popular enough to make it worth it for a transplant center to intentionally break the rules and give him the transplant. But... if he hasn't been drinking for over six months and he has an excellent family support system who will promise to make sure he takes the necessary medications, he might be able to qualify, particularly because it sounds like he became extremely ill so quickly and his body might otherwise still be strong enough to survive the surgery. It all sounds pretty discouraging at this point, though. I feel so sorry for him and his family, because I know from my own family's experience how helpless a feeling it is to know that someone will die without a transplant, and not be able to know for sure whether that transplant will happen in time. It's a terrible feeling, and David Cassidy is far sicker and his time far more limited than my dh's was. My dh also had the benefit of not drinking or smoking and having been in excellent health before he got the liver disease, so his body was stronger before the surgery than other candidates who hadn't taken good care of themselves beforehand. It sounds like David Cassidy has lived a very hard life. :(

I watched the Partridge Family too but I preferred The Hardy Boys! I also preferred Andy Gibb over his really old brothers The Bee Gees. I am sorry that David is not doing well. I enjoy watching his daughter on tv now.
gardenmom5
he hasn't been well for a long time. He's been messed up, and it's only gone downhill. I'm sorry he's had such struggles. It's only made worse by the inherited dementia.

Alicia64
So weird. I was at my first Fan Fest in Atlanta -- and Katie Cassidy was there on Sat. Then on Sunday she'd already left for Florida. I grew up w/ David Cassidy plastered to every inch of my walls. Where's the swooning emoticon?? It was an age-thing. LOVED him. Kind of surreal to see his daughter. DawnM
Sad day. My uncle died too. My favorite uncle, the one that was like a 2nd father to me while my parents were overseas. I talked to my cousin for a good long while yesterday, but it is hard when the generation just above you starts dying off. It feels like just yesterday when our grandparents and great aunts and uncles were dying.......and we thought, "Well, they were OLD." But now......it doesn't seem quite so old anymore.

Rest in peace, David. Wow, that must have been a very early episode. The little ones are so little. The girl who played Tracy died at age 51. I am 51. It is surreal. And that is the first actor who played Chris. He was replaced by season 2 or 3. Edited November 22, 2017 by DawnM

sheryl
Oh, I'm so sorry Dawn to hear of your Uncle's passing. And, I do know what you mean as the older generation on my and dh's side have mostly passed away. It's sad. ((Hug)) And, sad to hear about David Cassidy. I watched the show some growing up and liked him. :)
Lady Florida.
I'm sorry about your uncle, Dawn. :grouphug: I was pretty much outgrowing the teen heart throb stage when The Partridge Family came along but I liked the show, thought David Cassidy was cute, and liked some of the songs. I had totally outgrown it by the time Shaun Cassidy hit the teen scene. His death is sad to me for several reasons. -He had such potential but his meteoric rise was apparently too much for him, and from what I've read he didn't have any family support to keep him grounded. -He was relatively young to die. -It's one of those end-of-an-era things. As more and more icons from my day pass away I understand how my parents felt when their icons died.
