What adult publications (magazines, newspapers) do your kids enjoy?

Recommended Posts

It might be helpful if we explain why we enjoy the publications.

One aspect of The Week that we enjoy is that it pulls from other news outlets. It is a curated national (U.S.) and international news digest. Instead of a long article written by one source, there might be several paragraphs pulling from various media outlets on numerous sides of the issue.

We find it balances nicely with The Economist which has much more in-depth articles.

We have several other subscriptions, which often vary from year to year, but those two are foundational.

Oops. I sped through the OP too quickly. I didn’t realize that you wanted current events.

No, no. Anything will do. I'm happy to hear all your kids' interesting reading publication material!

And I'm mostly looking for print publications as we need more non-computer time. ;-)

Thanks!! Great insight. I'm thinking holiday time and some subscriptions in the near future.

We also prefer print publications. Holiday time is when we choose and purchase our subscriptions too. Have fun deciding!

Mental Floss might be another one to consider. It's fun and much less serious, but it still has lots of current events, history, and trivia.

The Economist

Foreign Policy

Wired (online)  Lots of news on the site actually.  It's one of my go to pages, especially for legislation that touches on tech issues.

National Review (online)

We really loved The Wall Street Journal, but they no longer publish in our state, so we can't get delivery any more.  DH will usually bring me one home from the airport when he travels.

You were careful not to say adult magazines, but I still giggled.

I did too!

& it reminded me of when dd (at around age 5?) was first allowed to watch a real film rather than just animated cartoons (we were kinda weird about tv etc back then).

She went around telling *everyone* "I'm allowed to watch adult movies now!"
