Tyler.Taylor
Hello! First post, just joined the Community. I am a 5-8th grade teacher at a small Classical School in Missoula, and I have an 8th grader who is starting "Intermediate Logic" and the text he is using is by James B Nance. I have no idea how they are determining truth values or truth tables. None. And I can't seem to find an "idiot's guide to logic" anywhere, and the text does not walk you through the process of finding the answers to the exercises, they are simply listed. Anyone taught this text or course before? Thank you, Tyler
maize
Is this helpful? https://medium.com/i-math/intro-to-truth-tables-boolean-algebra-73b331dd9b94 Truth tables are used in math and computer science, so maybe resources from those disciplines could help. Tyler.Taylor
The above link definitely answers some of our questions, but as this unit continues we will see just how well we understand!
Targhee
You might consider getting the DVDs of Nance lecturing to watch ahead of instruction? Also, a free course from Coursera covering symbolic logic is an option as well. Best wishes! ETA: my DD did Intro Logic last Spring and is starting Intm Logic in a couple weeks. We ordered the DVDs for the very reason that I have not taken a logic course myself. Edited November 2, 2017 by Targhee

Momto4inSoCal
I was just watching the sample from Nance on truth tables. Here's the link if it helps https://romanroadsmedia.com/courses/intro-logic/ although I still didn't really understand it from the video. Click on preview the course and the second video is on truth tables.
