silver
What new grammar topics are covered in the Voyage level of MCT grammar? For example, Grammar Town reviews the material of Grammar Island, but it also teaches appositive phrases and verbal phrases (to name a few new topics). Thanks! domestic_engineer
It's been about 12 months since we finished the book, so I don't know if I can remember what was new. But I don't think all that much was added. I vaguely remember being a little disappointed .... perhaps because of the lack of new concepts, perhaps because it was less whimsical that Island or Town level. From skimming the book, I think that some new ideas in this book are Correlating Conjunctions (1/2 a page) and the introduction of Verb Tense (just 3 pages): Present, past, future, and their progressive forms (present perfect, past perfect, future perfect), and Subjunctive Mood. There seems to be more work on active/passive voice and verbal phrases (& common mistakes such as misplaced modifiers & split infinitives). We aren't very deep into Practice Voyage yet, so I'm sure there will be some new things taught in there as usual. Hope it helps some!
LMD
Essay voyage has a lot of new stuff and it's my favourite of the MCT books so far.
Clemsondana
There isn't a ton of new material in the grammar book, but the practice book seems to be harder so I think they're using more complex phrases. The Essay Voyage book is good. We're finding it more enjoyable than the books at earlier levels. My kid is really enjoying Caesar's English, too. The mix of vocabulary, literature, and history is a hit.
