3girls4me
Hi ladies Have any of you used A Delectable Education for consulting? If so, how did it go? Thanks!!
Homeschoolmom3
Yes, I have and it went really well. They basically made up a complete curriculum for you with books and how often to read them and a simple schedule of how to cover it all. They had many books I had never heard of and will work with you on what is best for your family. They also are very good about answering questions later on and trying to help you implement along the way. It is a great resource! Let me know if you have any specific questions. :)

But I've read a lot on the CM soirée site and seen lots of lovely schedules when moms have one or two young school aged children, but not much from moms with older or more Kids. From your signature you have many and older kids. Are you able to stick to the schedule? I'm not pure Cm, but am taking lots of things from it. 3girls4me
I have an appointment set up for the end of December. I'm definitely not a CM purist. My other options are HOD and SCM with lots added. I guess I just wonder what types of things they suggest. Especially for language arts. It has worked perfectly for us, granted I have cut all coops out of our day and so we only go to a nature day once a month and we usually shoot for a field trip once a month and sometimes they have friends over but the rest of their activities are on occasional nights as to not interrupt our day. Best thing I have ever done, it makes the days so nice- no stress and able to complete all school work with time to breathe, unwind and to dive into other interests.

They give you a list of books (no curriculum) and how to implement the books, page numbers, and how to go about it. I'm not sure how much you know about CM but I would recommend listening to their podcasts on how to teach certain areas. For "Language Arts" they will tell you what to use for grammar, how to go about teaching writing (mostly narrations at that age), copy work/ dictation and that is mostly what is consisted Language Arts. Also will give you a list of books to read that coincide with what your time period studying and a bunch of other free family reads. I've listened to quite a few of their podcasts and am finishing up For the children's sake. (Among other things) I'll make sure to keep listening! I had a post recently on the Soiree about feeling overburdened with extracurriculars, and feeling like our day is far too interrupted. I'm having a consult in December, and I'm very excited. I'm taking the educators' course with the CM Soiree right now too. Digging in to CM!
tjlcc
I had a consultation for this school year. I've been CM educating for the past 5 years, piecing it all together myself, but I decided to splurge and see what book recommendations I would get from the ADE ladies. The ladies asked about my children and catered their recommendations according to their academic ability -- I have an advanced Year 9 student and average Year 7 and Year 4 students as well as a bright Year 1 student. We were able to combine my Year 7 and Year 4 students in several subjects (British and Canadian history, Practical Geometry, Grammar) and my Year 4 and Year 1 students are combined in a couple of Science readings. The scheduling cards are included in your consultation and are especially helpful when writing out a schedule for your child to follow. I appreciated the different symbols in differentiating between a reading subject or a skills subject; it helps my kids vary their lessons so Math isn't followed by Grammar, then Dictation and then a Composition lesson as those all require similar brain power. I'm not sure if I will commit to a consultation for next year. It will depend on funds. I may invest in a few of the training videos offered by ADE or I may sign up for The Alveary to access all their training materials and helpful information.
