BTC Posted October 14, 2017 Share Posted October 14, 2017 I'm hoping there is someone here that has used this textbook that can help me. I purchased the book brand new. I just ordered the flash drive from math without borders. Now I'm wondering if I need an answer key also. There are answers in the book to the odd questions, but what about the others? And aren't there tests also? It just seems like a lot of books/accessories to buy for one course. I have the same question about Jacob's Geometry. I'm just using student text and solutions for Jacobs 2nd edition, no videos. We did Foerster 1 with MWB and used the video, solutions and the text regularly. I have the student copy of Algebra 2, but haven't bought the solutions or videos because I'm seriously considering Larson instead, which I bought as our backup. Since the least expensive place I've found the solutions is directly from the publisher, I'm waiting until I'm sure we are going to use Foerster before I buy it. If we use Larson, I'll probably buy AoPS Intro to Algebra and add back in Fun Math Friday at our house. We worked through some MOEMs stuff when dd was in Singapore Math, and the AoPS books cost about the same as just the Foerster solutions. Ah, here is what they say: Solution manuals are available from Pearson-Prentice Hall (also from rainbowresource.com), but you will probably not need the solution manual for this course because each lesson has a second video that demonstrates the solutions of a significant number of problems, enough to be the entire assignment. I have heard that all of the problems are not worked out in the solutions text. Mr. Chandler completely redid the videos this year, including different assignments. I'm on a phone, but the last time I checked oasis it was less than rainbow, and definitely less than Amazon. I'll look later. UPDATE- Oasis price for the solutions manual is $50.47 right now. I think you have to be logged in to see the price. The last time I ordered from them, shipping was included. I registered for an account years ago, so I assume it's still simple to sign up and tell them which products you want to be able to purchase as a homeschooler. I think they see lots of requests for Foerster and Smith algebra materials. I do recall it took a week or so to get approved. As for needing the solutions manual, it is handy if you are using the MWB videos and assigning evens if you want to check quickly. The answers in the back of the book are for odds and the video solutions are for evens. If you assign odds and just want answers, you'd be fine without it. Although now someone else has told me that if I have the videos, then all I would need is the Teacher's edition which contains all the answers, including all lesson problems as well as chapter review and test answers.
