I am using Introductory Chemistry by Zumdahl. I was following a syllabus/website that I found on WTM boards, and if I read it correctly it did not show doing chapter 7.

Predicting whether a reaction will occur

Reactions in which a solid forms

Describing Reactions in Aqueous Solutions

Reactions that form in water:Acids and Bases

Reactions of metals with non metals (Oxidation reduction)

Ways to Classify Reactions

I skipped it when I worked through chapters 1-16 and I didn't notice that I was missing anything.

What are your thoughts about including this material?  I had thought about just introducing it and not taking the time to work problems.

Thanks,

Kendall

I think reactions in aqueous solutions, acids and bases and oxidation reduction should be covered.

Hmmm...are you absolutely sure that the syllabus skips Chapter 7? These seem like vital chemistry topics. Reactions!!!

I noticed that Quarks and Quirks does cover Chapter 8 first but then goes back and covers 6 and 7 a few weeks later. Is that the syllabus you are following?

Yes, that is what I was following and I just missed it. I've started through it and will cover it.  Thanks!
