This would only happen in public school :(

My son went back to school for high school. I like his school, it's not perfect but it works.

We worked all summer to be ready to submit college applications. Submit application, test scores, teacher recommendations.

We request transcripts from school to be sent. Not submitted. We request again. Not submitted.

My son meets with guidance counselor for the third time about the transcripts. Now she tells him person who submits transcripts has been out sick and they think they will be back soon.

What???! 😧😟😤😳

I'm trying really hard to not freak out.

:grouphug: my district’s transcript system is outsourced to Parchment so is pay as you need.

Could the guidance counselor send the transcript instead of whoever the sick dedicated transcript person is? I know for elementary and middle schools even the school secretary could give me a copy of my kids transcript if I didn’t want them to fax direct to the other school.

Our local school has a very efficient procedure for getting transcripts out. I'm sorry yours is able to follow through.

That said, are there specific steps to follow. Our school has 2600 students spread through grade 9-12. Because there are so many students they have a list of steps seniors applying to college must follow to get transcripts sent. Can you check if your school has a procedure they want seniors to follow and if your child has done it.

Actually, I can totally see this happening at my house with dd#2. She's my non-procrastinator. She'll be done with her college aps & essays months before they are due. I can see her asking me to hit the submit button on my part - course descriptions, transcript, counselor letter, etc. repeatedly for weeks while I tweak & fret & proofread "one more time." And, then she'll ask again. And again. And maybe, finally, the night before they are due, I'll finally hit submit.

OP - Hope the person gets well or they put someone else in charge of sending them until the original employee gets well. Very frustrating - but I bet the college/universities have seen it many times ago & won't hold it against your kid (more than necessary).

That's bizarre! Why can't the guidance counselor take care of that herself? If not, can you contact the principal?

I wouldn't blame it on it being a public school though. You can find people unwilling to make the effort to help find a solution anywhere.

My daughter was in private school and it would never ever happen at her school.

I'm giving myself a day to collect my thoughts before I email the guidance counselor. She's not my favorite person to deal with. She'll tell you half of what you need to know, then magically the next week has the other half to tell you. It's exhausting dealing with her.

My son has done his part. It's the school that is not doing their part.
