My dh and I are traveling in February to a wedding. *It's an adult only event, our current kids are staying with grandparents, but the new infant will be with us (she'll be 3 months when we go). We will be there for several days. Part of the time we will be with family and friends (honestly, most of the time realistically), but at least one afternoon/evening we want to do something just with us.

What are the absolute must see/do things? Neither of us are gamblers...

We've been to VEgas a few times with kiddos.

We've stayed at Stratosphere and they have a sky jump which looked cool but we are chickens (and frugal).

We enjoy going to Cake Boss "Carlos Bakery" and eating at Buddy Vs Restaurant. DD and I are fans of the show.

Seeing the fountains at the Bellagio near dusk (and eating outside nearby is a plus) is so unique and cool. Also Botanical gardens/conservatory at Bellagio.

We drove to Hoover Dam for an afternoon and enjoyed it so much- about 1 hour.

Saw a magic show and family comedy show as well- many hot ticket shows to see.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Something else, this is the first trip to a "new" location for me with a baby. (Flying before has been adults only or to visit family) will we need a stroller? I plan on wearing her. But are many/most things in walking distance (or any idea how I find out?)

We are staying at The Golden Nugget...

Everything on the Strip (so most things that will be recommended) are in walking distance. Some of it may be a long walk, but you can walk. There's also a monorail which we used a lot to get from one end of the Strip to the other. I think (?) the Golden Nugget is further down on one end as opposed to being in the middle. Cirque du Soleil is a must!

The boys and I tagged along when my dh had a business trip in Vegas.

The boys and I hated it.

We stayed in Caesar's Palace. I was under the impression that the casinos were in separate rooms from other areas of the hotel. Nope. To get from your car to your room, you had to walk through acres of smokey casinos. My dh and ds, who each have a touch of asthma, hacked their lungs out for days. It was horrible.

We went to a lame (lame, lame) chocolate factory, went to the M&M store, and to some overpriced meals. We were shocked at how overpriced the meals were. We ate at a buffet and it cost the four of us over $100. One meal. Buffet. We'd heard that meals were reasonably priced at Vegas, but our info was outdated. Meals are very expensive there now.

There was a ton of walking. A ton. I thought I had good shoes for walking, but quickly realized I didn't. I was in pain from the walking and not having good shoes, so wear decent shoes for walking. The hotel was so big that to get from the car to the room was like walking from one end of a mall to the other. I just about cried when I realized we'd left something in the car (after we'd already walked the smokey round trip 3 times) and my dh was hacking too much to get it and I had to schlep back to get it on my sore feet.

However, the boys and I loved Hoover Dam. For some reason (I can't remember why), I didn't get out to the Red Rocks, but my dh got to go and loved it. And I saw Cirque de Soliel in Chicago when I visited there and loved it.

I agree with others that for your one thing you should see either Cirque de Soliel or those Red Rocks. Are you familiar with the American west? I'm from the east and thought I would find all the rocks and dirt boring, but it wasn't like that at all. It was like being on another planet and I loved it. I couldn't keep my eyes off of the all the rocks and dirt. It was beautiful, though I never knew it from pictures.

If I ever had to go back to Vegas, I would understand what I was getting into. I'd stay in a hotel without a smokey casino. I'd ignore most of the stuff on the strip and save my pennies for some shows--like Cirque. I'd drive away from the strip for meals. I'd go to those red rocks at sunset. I think we'd have loved the trip if we'd have done it that way.

As someone else said, there is a monorail that travels up and down the strip. I'd look into that.

The shows are fun - we did two cirque ones. Also the shooting ranges are a blast, no pun intended. I may or may not have spent way too long in the spa as well. Tons to see and do even if you don't gamble, which we don't.

And yes, I've done it all (except the range) with a six month old. The only trouble I got into was when I got lost trying to cross hotels and the stroller got stuck in an area of a gazillion stairs in Luxor, which sucked.
