First acceptance arrived for DS over the weekend--Virginia Military Institute. He's thrilled! Still waiting on other applications and scholarships.

Ooh.  I just texted dd to check her Purdue portal.  I'm not sure we would be able to afford it, but it's her dad's alma mater.

DS just received his acceptance to the University of Hawaii, his #1 choice.  He definitely gets in-state tuition, word is still out on other scholarships (he needs to submit a couple more pieces of paperwork).  While more money is always good, in-state tuition is covered by savings so he will graduate debt free, something that was quite important to him.

Do you live in Hawaii?  If not and we can help with info, let me know.

Lots of Purdue acceptances, congrats!
Are you all in-state for Purdue? Just curious:)

A friend in CA said with UC engineering acceptance rates the way they were, her son applied to several out of state colleges, including Purdue.  Even with out of state, it is reasonably priced.

We just got the email that dd was accepted to Purdue!  She may be following her father into Civil Engineering, but may concentrate on Environmental.

We are, yes, only about 30 miles away, so it's possible DS will end up living at home and commuting. Or possibly getting an apt with some friends from church. But almost certainly not in the dorms. Which will cut down on $$$ quite a bit :)

DS just got two acceptances. We thought he had this decided mid junior year and applied to his first choice in August and has even paid a housing deposit there. Over Christmas he decided to apply to two more.

University of South Florida (accepted with highest automatic out of state scholarship. we believe this also comes with admission to the honors college)

Nova Southeastern (applied to and invited to interview for a dual degree BS/JD program that guarantees him a seat in the law school pending successful undergrad)

If he goes for the interview at Nova it is in February so he has to make a decision. I hate to do that without financial aid info as it would involve flying and missing de classes. Just found out tonight and we'll need to mull that over a bit before making a decision.

USF is affordable. Cheaper than our state flagship and only marginally more than the small regional state U he was planning on.

Sigh...he was supposed to be easy. This threw us for a loop the last few weeks.

Ds was just accepted to Queens - he applied to their Commerce program and to their Honours Science program and was accepted into both. Also, small scholarships for both, but they reevaluate scholarship amounts in July and he'll see a big difference in marks between what his November marks were and what his July ones are.

First acceptance here, at Iowa State U.

Applied 12/30, uploaded school documents 1/4.  The portal said the application would be under review for 3-4 weeks.  Checked today to find that admission was offered 1/10.

Really speedy.

My daughter applied to a handful of colleges and was accepted to everyone of them and chose Virginia Wesleyan University.  She will be living in the dorms but close enough to come home to use my washer/dryer and kitchen whenever she wants to. :D  It's not a full ride but full enough that my husband and I are not OMG over it.  I also learned because he is still active duty our daughter gets a living allowance so that will go towards her dorm.  I think she is hoping for the a dorm with a private bathroom instead of the community one.  I personally push for non community.  I never lived in the dorms but did service in the Navy and lived in the barracks.  Dorms and barracks are not so different right?
