Janeway
I took some pictures using the selfie function on my camera today. There is a crescent projection. I found that online and read about it. BUT, there is also this purple halo around the projection and then a sort of trumpet coming off the projection away from the sun. It is in every picture. It is not damage to the lens. I took many pictures of the kids and other such things and the marks were not there. Plus, it changes places on each picture to be around the projection and then the trumpet part goes away from the sun, completely opposite direction. I will add a picture to show you. It is more pronounced in this one.
Guest
That just looks like regular solar flare to me, like you get in any photography when light directly hits the lens.
JIN MOUSA
I think it's solar flare, related to light bouncing around/off the camera lense. Solar flare shape/color is often unpredictable. Other than, "What is this," did you have other questions about the eclipse photos?
