What is your required reading for 4th grader?

Do you have any particular goals? Do you want to tie this in with history, maybe? What sort of books is your kid reading now?

Hmm, that's a great question.  I am not sure....he finally loves reading and I just want him to read quality books.

He recently went through Heroes in Training and Lemonade Wars and while I like the subject and thought it was fun reading, I don't consider that "good literature".  So I guess I was hoping to have a combination of something like that is fun and interesting but also something that will start slowly introducing classics??

I use the MENSA book lists, but we do most books as read aloud so. Book Shark has great quality books.

For free reading I'd encourage anything.

There are also formal textbook literature reading programs. K12 tends to have good literature selections.

Or you could choose books from awards lists (Newberry, Caldecott -sp?).
