24 month baby clothes

What kind of clothes should I get at this time of year? I haven't needed to buy baby clothes for 19 years. I'm thinking a long sleeve onesie? The child lives in Wisconsin. SIL has no specific requests, she just put a request for used clothes on facebook and I'd like to buy something on Amazon to send to her.

Out of curiosity...where in WI? And is the child a boy or girl?

Is the child just growing into 24 mo/2 yo clothes? Anything is fine. Days can still get hot so shorts and t-shirts work. But days can already by cool, so having some pants and long sleeve things are good.

Signed,

I always liked cozy one-piece pajamas--the ones with feet--for the winter. I also used short-sleeve onesies to layer under pants and shirts so that if the shirt came up the tummy wasn't bare.

I really like the Carter's brand. I think they sell their clothes on Amazon but have better deals on the Carter's website. I just peeked at their site and, gosh, little kids' clothes are so cute!

Is she potty training? My kids liked onesie for climbing and sleeping because their tummy stays covered. However my DS11 was pooping often in one day so we ended up not buttoning the onesie at home. Also my kids prefer us cutting the tags instead of the flaky printed size label while other toddlers prefer tagless clothing and don't mind the printing.

My oldest has always been tall for age and we had the best luck with Carters for onesies and Oshkosh for overalls. He wanted 100% cotton for baby clothes which was easy enough to find.

Thank you! My nephew is actually a preemie, 16 months old, and wearing 18 month clothes. SIL just wants to start getting the next size up. He's not even pulling himself up yet to a standing position. I'm surprised she's asking for 24 month clothes. I don't know at what rate he's growing. I'm not sure what he weighs now but last month when I saw him he seemed so small but I could only compare with my memories of my own children. I just wanted to surprise her with something but I don't know what she needs. Last month he was wearing little shirts and shorts. I didn't see him in a onesie at all but I only saw him a few days.

Ok I just asked and she said sweaters and long sleeve shirts and pants. I found a cute sweater that is just a pullover. They have some pullovers with a zipper at the neck. I'm not sure that would be comfortable. She didn't say anything about onesies. I wonder if she doesn't use them.

After the 18 month size is 24 months so I'm not surprised since it is the next size up. I think the 2 years size was shorter than the 24 months size because 2T size is for walking toddlers while 24 month size was for crawling big size toddlers in diapers. I found slightly bigger size clothes easier for diaper changing when my kids were in diapers.

Carters size chart says the other way round so I would call them if you are buying Carters online from Amazon, Macy's, etc.

My kids loved the footed pyjamas from Carters even for day wear to the park. http://www.carters.com/carters-baby-boy-pajamas?navID=header

My small for age DS11 had his growth spurt before 2. I was a premie and had my growth spurt after I was able to stand after turning 2. My big size DS12 on the other hand was in 24 months clothes way before he was 1.

Is your SIL likely to bring him out to outdoor parks or indoor malls? My kids were late walkers so were mostly in strollers when outdoors. So instead of thicker clothing, we used plush stroller blankets for windy days.

A friend in the midwest posted that the Farmer's almanac projected a cold and snowy winter this year.   Even if he's too small for them in the winter, she can always put them on in layers.  I really think anything is fine.  If he's only in 18 month clothing now I would veer away from fall themes & colors, but I think seasonal themes is more common for girls than boys anyway.   Find something cute on the Carter's website and include a gift receipt.  Carter's stores are pretty common in medium sized cities in the Midwest, IME.

Cloth v disposable diapers makes a difference too because some people do the giant bubble butt thing. I did lol. So bottoms were a size bigger than tops. for autumn, I like the one piece pajamas withOUT feet, so that he can wear them with shoes in the daytime too.

2T is typically larger than 24 mo. I wouldn't buy onesies...our Once Upon a Child doesn't sell them after 3-6 mo so I don't think they're very popular (at least here) for bigger babies/toddlers. I'd second the Carter's suggestion. But maybe don't buy outdoor wear...people keep giving my babies various outdoor wear like fleece snowsuits that they never wear because I just put a blanket or fleece jwcket on them in the winter til they're too, so I feel like that stuff is highly personal preference. But maybe I am just exceptionally picky!

Just my two cents, I would consider shopping at the children's place site. They do free shipping and you can usually find some decent sales. I find shopping on Amazon much more difficult for narrowing down items and finding something affordable. I have found a few things on Amazon, though. I also would consider looking in person at discount racks and mailing in a bubble mailer. That's what I'm doing for a relative that is expecting.
