Major fail: Attempting to teach DS13 a little physics in the car today...

DS13 accompanied me to the county fair today with a trunkload of MomsintheGarden's flowers in ice cream buckets and other pots of water.  There was probably about two gallons of water back there with nothing to keep it in the pots and out of the trunk except how I drove the car.

 

Reg:  On our way to the fair today I will be attempting to minimized the da/dt of the car, which is known as jerk.

DS13:  What's that?  Did you say that D-A-D is jerk?

I guess it serves me right, since I was really minimizing dv/dt, which is known as acceleration.  :tongue_smilie:

 

At least I made it to the fair without drenching the trunk...

But jerk is what gives people motion sickness (it is not acceleration per se; we experimented) - so minimizing jerk is always good, too :)

So when we drive ourselves, we feel less "jerky" and don't get sick versus when some other jerk drives??  :)

I think it's because our brain handles our own jerkiness better than that of others

I get sick when I drive as well.
