IPhone software for kid with LD issues (college/vocational)

Recommended Posts

Bonus kid starts her vocational program to get her EMT-1 on the 28th, and I'm trying to get her set up as much as possible.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a planner app that is easier than google calendar? She finds it frustrating.

Is Learning Ally likely to be helpful for a vocational program? She definitely benefits from audio texts.

Any other resources she's likely to need? She is registered with the office that provides supports for disabilities, and has alternative testing and a copy of class notes (with visual presentation preferred) p in place. They seem very used to dealing with LD's. They also have videos of the classes available that she can review. The library has an extra set of hands on models for the anatomy and physiology component.

She's also going to be volunteering with a cheer program for kids with developmental disabilities, which will let her keep her feet in that world, and will be teaching swim classes and lifeguarding.

My dd is using My Homework. I haven't seen it, but that's what she says she's using. It has an app and a desktop version, so it syncs across devices.

Google calendar is disgusting, as is pretty much anything microsoft or android. I'm incredibly biased. Definitely flee google calendar and get something sensible.

This is probably it. Looks like there are chrome versions too, so there you go. She can put it on her iphone and see it on a chromebook or laptop of some kind too. :)

Ok, I'm looking at this, and the My Homework stuff is really slick! Very impressed. Get her the premium version, so her calendar will sync too. The iphone has a native calendar app, and other apps can pull data from that to import and use in their stuff. So then she can talk to the phone, add things to her calendar, and they'll appear in the My Homework app or any other calendar app she uses. I personally use Calendars5 for calendar stuff. Everyone has what they like. I like the colored squares, so I can quickly see everything. I LIVE by my calendar on my phone. :D

I can ask dd if you can use Siri to add things to My Homework. I don't know. Does she read at all or does she need it to read it to her? There's always the accessibility, but that's going to be tedious. Hmph. Well i guess see if she can read what she puts into My Homework or not.
