We don't worry too much about it.

 

I teach typing when hands are big enough for a keyboard comfortably.  Powerpoint, spreadsheets, coding, etc. come after that.  It really doesn't take them long to learn basic skills and then branch out into interests like graphic design or video editing.

California had a state standard for technology before common core so I just kind of followed that since my kids were in public school. It's really simple and kids pick up fast usually.

Thanks for this link. Yeah, I was looking for specific age-appropriate skills & this link fits the bill. I'm sure my daughter's picking up quite a bit simply by using her iPad & my laptop & phone. However, since I'm an 'oldie' I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking a 21st century skill she'll need.
