S/o pillows, how do you sleep?

In the pillow thread, some people mentioned how they sleep (side/back/stomach), and it seems like side is pretty common.

I realized I'm a "rotating sleeper." I turn throughout the night (always in the same direction), so I sleep on my back, right side, stomach, and left side. I wonder if this is a common thing?

Also, how do you even choose a good pillow for this kind of sleep?

I'm a back and side sleeper (both sides, although I seem to have a slight preference for my left side). When I sleep on my back I don't use a pillow. Instead of putting my head on it I put my head under it. I may be a bit weird in that regard. I buy pillows that are marketed for side or side and back sleepers. There are pillows that are supposedly for all sleep positions. I don't see how they could work well for all positions, though.

I'm a rotating sleeper, too, but not always the same direction. I rarely sleep on my back. Mostly side or stomach. I try really hard not to sleep on my stomach because I have a couple of bulging cervical discs.

One weird habit I have is that if I'm sleeping on my right side and I get up to go to the bathroom, when I lay back down I have to lay on my left side.

I sleep on latex pillows--not firm latex. Very soft and bouncy.

I spoon, so we turn in unison

Do you get flipper over the top? That happens to me from time to time. He's just hysterical.

I generally start the night with my head on DH's shoulders and my leg resting on his. Later, this becomes a spoon. I'm always the little spoon, so if I get flipped to the other side I'm all "my pillooooooooooow. . . ." until I get it back and all is right with the world. We're full contact sleepers until the middle of the night. We sometimes roll away in the deepest sleep, then return by morning. It's a whole dance.

I sleep flat on my back with no pillow.  I use a u-shaped thing to keep my head facing the ceiling.  If I sleep with my head turned to either side, I will have a horrible stiff neck for days.

While slowly waking up in the morning, I will roll from one side to the other, and sometimes I'll fall asleep that way.  But I can't stay in such a position for long, without consequences.  :/

When I was a young adult (and as a kid), I always slept on my stomach.

I have to move often in the night because I have a bum shoulder and it aches if I'm in the same position too long. Though it's my right shoulder, on my right side actually gets me the longest, then stomach. My left side leaves my right arm dangly a bit so my shoulder hurts more. I cannot sleep on my back. When I sleep on my stomach, though, I tend to kind of hug my pillow so that head and chest are on top of it and left arm is wrapped around it.

I have a keep cool gel memory pillow. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it.

I cannot sleep touching anyone. We have a king size bed and need it because I need my space!

Because I saw a pp mention getting up and when you come back to bed.... If I wake up in the middle of a dream and I'm still thinking of it, I am more likely to retain glimpses of it for a bit or even return to it if I stay on the same side. If I switch sides, it's gone. I have actually flipped back to the first side before, wanting to remember it, and it sometimes does come back a bit when I'm back on that side. It may be weird, but it is nice for if I'm having unsettling dreams. They don't always completely leave me like random ones do, but switching sides is enough to pull me out of it where I'll go right back to it if I don't.

No that has never happened. We have our own sides of the bed and take turns being the inside spoon.

Another rotating sleeper here. I used to slept on my side a lot, with a preference to the left side because I heard it could help reduce acid reflux. However I've been experiencing some chest pain recently so I'm trying to sleep on my back more. Always with 2 or 3 pillows under my head and neck, again hoping the stomach acid will stay in its place (which doesn't seem to help at all).

Wait, so you swap sides and rotate??? A dance indeed ...

I don't DO anything. I get grabbed and he rolls me over the top as he turns over. Covers are in disarray, cell phones are on the wrong side, if I don't snatch it on the way my precious pillow is left behind. It's chaotic and ridiculous and DH is oh so amused. FYI, when you try to tell someone off while you're half asleep and laughing they do not fear your wrath. I'm pretty sure this all started when I wanted him to get up and turn off the light because he was closer. Suddenly, I was closer :-/

I always start out on my back, and can't sleep unless my pillow is fairly high.  Sometimes I sleep on my side, and I like it fairly high for that too.  If I have a flat pillow, I have to stick my arm under it while I'm sleeping to boost it up.  So generally a pillow works for both back and side, for me, as long as it's high enough.  (Most of the time I sleep with two pillows.  The one on the bottom is just to add height;  the one on top adds comfort.)

Sometimes, I end up on my stomach!  Then I push my pillow(s) to the side.
