Best youtube Shakespeare

Recommended Posts

This is just a clip, but it's a wonderful scene. Shakespeare's Globe performing Twelfth Night with an all-male cast.  If you can find it at your library, I HIGHLY recommend it-it's hilarious!

Best synopsis of Shakespeare ever in the whole entire history of ever (comedic):

For quality recordings of theatre at a reasonable price, try digital theatre http://www.digitaltheatre.com

Its a UK site, but I think you can download in the US

With our unique methods we bring online a library of diverse and acclaimed productions from some of the finest theatre talent around. Each production is available to rent online for a limited period or downloaded to your desktop and enjoyed as many times as you wish."

The library doesn't seem to have that version of Twelfth Night, alas!  However, they did have two other reasonable looking versions, so I've put one on hold.  We may go and see it live this month, too.

I usually prefer the ones on pbs.org. Pbs.org and Youtube fluctuate constantly though. If you write one into your lesson plans now it might not be available by the time you get to it. Ask me how I know. :p

I almost always try and use Youtube stuff as soon as I find it - I find with a lot of things, if I plan too far ahead, I run into problems.

I didn't know bout abs.org though, I'll check it out.

You can actually buy and download The Globe performances from:

https://globeplayer.tv

Thanks, I'll have a look at these - it's an inexpensive curriculum year for us, so I could probably afford a few.
