Popular Post BlsdMama
It's August. You are in it THICK. Up to the knees. Or maybe the NECK. You might still be finishing up books from LAST school year. Maybe you are procrastinating writing a lesson plan. Maybe you are sitting in front of the forum, coffee in hand, considering scrapping everything you did last year in favor of a new curriculum that holds the whisper of a promise of an easy, smooth year. Maybe you are just plain EXCITED and are chomping at the bit to get started and don't want to "rob" the kids of another week of summer but you have the smell of new books wafting through your house. ;)I have a promise for ALL of you. Some things are going to work so well and you are going to fall in love. Some things are going to work terribly and you'll wonder what you were thinking and which dimwit on the forum recommended it for you. ;)Some things are going to work but it's going to be H-A-R-D. This is the promise: It will be worth it. The failures, the successes, all of them will add to your wisdom AND your grace AND your humility. These experiences will make you a better mom, a better friend, a better advisor. We enrolled our girls in public school at the end of last year for the coming year because we thought my health would be bad enough I would not be able to school them. It's not so. In a leap of faith and through our AMAZING homeschool program, our girls will be home this year. As a mama, like you, who has experienced success, failure, burnout, and joy, being face to face with feeling like I could not choose homeschooling this year really made me see with focused eyes the gift that schooling at home has been to our family. :001_wub: So happy school year 2017/2018. It's okay to have successes and failures. It's okay to come to the forum and rant, share joys/successes, and cry. We will hug you, applaud you, and share it with you. Mostly we're just glad you're here 'cuz we know all of this CRAZY is totally worth it. Seventeen years and still going. So grateful.

FloridaLisa
Yay! So glad you'll be able to make it work at home! I've found the same. I've always appreciated being able to homeschool and felt it a gift -- as much as it feels like hard w o r k. But when my dh died and I began taking it year by year to see if I could still stay home? I've been so, so grateful for the gift of homeschooling. We'll see what the future holds but for now, it feels good to be able to work and study and learn and spend so much time with my kiddos. Random
I'm very happy for you! This year, one of my children has to go to public school. It's been a very difficult transition for the family. I never, ever thought I would miss homeschooling *that child* but I really do. I am more appreciative of the other children who are still at home. Blessings to you, BlsdMama!!
