RootAnn
Just a note that it'll be starting back up next Monday already for those of you who enjoy it as much as we do! CNN Student News (now known as CNN 10)
mellifera33
Thanks! I've been thinking that we need to add a bit of current events to our day, and this looks perfect. :)
mommyoffive
My kids have had this date on their minds since it ended. I like it pretty well. I skip some bad stuff as my kids are a bit young for this.

Seeking Squirrels
What age would you say this is best for? Mine are 9 & 5. I'm thinking more for the 9 yo but 5yo would likely see and hear it, too. N/M, just noticed the sub forum I'm in, this is probably not for us just yet! RootAnn
I have some kids who are ready for this when they are younger & some who need(ed) to wait until they were older. I'm going to try it for those who are interested this year, so any of mine can watch now. If it gets too difficult with world events, I'll restrict it to the older kids. My ds#1 really wants to watch it this year. He reminds me a lot of dd#1 - who is the reason we found it in the first place.
Soror
Thanks for the FYI, I had been wondering when it was coming back.
Tanaqui
Thanks. I wish they'd run through June - a lot of school systems run until Midsummer or a little later.
Insertcreativenamehere
We were just talking about this! Glad to know it'll be back soon. My kids love it!
luuknam
What a way to start off the year... I guess tomorrow's episode will definitely be one to pre-watch for the PG-aged crowd. Thanks. I wish they'd run through June - a lot of school systems run until Midsummer or a little later. I wonder if the BBC or some Australian or NZ news channel goes year round. Or maybe even some channel from India or w/e. I know the Dutch student news goes year round (though they only have one episode/day on non-school days... on school days they have the morning and evening news, one of which is 5 min, the other 10, iirc, and then half an hour on Sundays), but I don't think that'd be useful to others here (my kids don't really understand much of it yet either, so while we watched it some last fall, we haven't watched it recently). N/M, just noticed the sub forum I'm in, this is probably not for us just yet! My 9 year old loves it. I haven't let anyone younger than that watch it. For me it would need a lot of edit and omit for me to let a 5 year old watch it. I do omit lots of stuff for the 9 and 11 year old. I think a lot of the terrorist stuff is just so scary. luuknam
The BBC has Newsround, for 6-12yos (according to Wikipedia... I haven't ever watched it): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsround
luuknam
Australia's Behind The News is for ages 8-13: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behind_the_News (I did not find anything for Canada, India, NZ, Nigeria, or Hong Kong, but I didn't spend a ton of time on it either) Edited August 13, 2017 by luuknam

RootAnn
For those who will want to pre-watch, they usually post the next day's episode the night before. I don't know what time they post it, but it is usually available the evening before.

N/M, just noticed the sub forum I'm in, this is probably not for us just yet! Obviously I don't know your kids, but neither of mine would have been ready for it at 5. DD9 started watching it last year and loves it. I think DS started watching it at around age 9 or 10 as well. For those who will want to pre-watch, they usually post the next day's episode the night before. I don't know what time they post it, but it is usually available the evening before. Toomorrow's episode is up now. I think they post them around 7.
