Zulily Basics

Can someone explain the basics of Zulily shopping to me? It looks like there are No Returns, or usually no returns? If you've shopped there, have you been happy with quality, sizing estimates, etc? Will I regret buying a "cute, trendy" $30 sweatshirt that should look good on me, but when it gets here it's lousy material and doesn't fit?

 

What's been your Zulily experience? TIA!!

I liked the clothes and the prices, but it takes FOREVER to get the stuff.  Order for the upcoming season WAY ahead of time. 

 

The fit worked out fine for me.  Quality is good.

I like Zulily for items of known quality since there aren't returns. Sizing and quality will vary from brand to brand just like buying those items in a store.

I have liked the things I've bought that were from brands I already know I like; I have disliked some of the ones from new-to-me brands and liked others.

I've had good and not-so-good experiences with Zulily. The quality of the items I have purchased have always been good, but that is likely due to the fact I only buy brands on there that I am familiar with. There have been times where I was interested in an item, but decided to check out reviews for It elsewhere, and realized that it wasn't such a good deal based on bad reviews.

 

IMO, a lot of the prices look good until you factor in the shipping cost, and then that usually brings your total up to what it would be if you ordered the item from Amazon, where the cost may be a few dollars more for the item, but where you would receive free shipping.

Another point to consider is this: once you place an order and pay the shipping cost for your first order, you do get free shipping the rest of the day. That makes it so easy to go back and order other things that you really don't need or even want, simply because you have free shipping and want to make the shipping charge you did pay on your initial order worth it.

Overall, unless I see something that is a very low price, I prefer to shop elsewhere. But of course, YMMV, and I may be in the minority with my opinions. :-)

ETA: As another poster mentioned, they do take FOREVER to ship their items. I often am willing to pay a bit more elsewhere so as to get my item more quickly.

I only ordered once and the shirt I received was a child size, versus a women's sizing despite the tag. It was in no way going to fit DD. It was a Christmas gift, so I called around that time and too late to send a replacement. They apologized profusely and refunded with no questions asked. The told me to give it to someone who would enjoy it. I was very happy with their handling of the situation, so would probably try them again.

 

My sister orders from there frequently and, for the most part, has been very happy with what she has received. Yes, it does take a very long time in shipping so she plans ahead toward the next season. She has gotten some really cute long tunic type tops that she wears with leggings and boots for very reasonable prices.

I've been happy with things when I knew the brand beforehand (Robeez, TOMS shoes, Calico Critters, Merrell shoes).

 

I have found unknown brands to be lousy quality and poorly sized.

 

I don't really shop there anymore because I find that I can usually find similar prices on other parts of the internet. I do set alerts for brands I want to buy.

I was expecting my recent order to take forever after being warned about slow processing times, but I ordered July 18 and tracking says it should arrive by Monday. That is a long time compared to Amazon Prime, but less than I expected for Zulily.

The random things my SIL has bought for my kids have not been great quality. They tended to be PJs though so it didn't matter a ton. I've never placed an order myself.

I've had mixed experiences there too.  I find that the sizing is WAY off.  Check the size chart... religiously, for every.single.item.  Sometimes it's up to 2 sizes smaller.  

 

Shoes can be iffy.  Sometimes I've gotten them and they're too small and other times they're too big.  I've stopped buying shoes from them unless I am already familiar with the brand.

 

I've bought household items and haven't had any problem.  

 

I have had the take returns - or rather - swaps.  I haven't done it often, but they've always been very helpful when I called.  So, if you run into a problem, call them.

I love Zulily. I buy stuff from them all the time. Usually clothes and shoes but I have purchased toys and STEM stuff. I did buy some pyrex bowls and some milk glass bowls once and they arrived broken. I took pics and sent them over. They reimbursed all the money and let me keep the non broken stuff. There are no returns but we had some poor quality shoes once and a sweater that fell apart. They promptly refunded the money. I really like them. Don't expect fast shipping. The do bulk shipping so it takes weeks and sometimes more weeks.
