early admissions & August SAT scores?

Ds is applying EA to a couple of places.

 

His first SAT was decent but he is re taking in August.

 

We're planning on getting all his Common App stuff ready to go in August, but should we wait until the SAT scores are out to actually submit the applications?

EA deadline is Nov 1, but he wants to have them in earlier, especially for his first choice.

 

Or, do we send his current scores first & is there a place on the CA to show that he took in August & those scores are on the way once available?

I would wait to submit the application until you receive the August scores.  Once you get the August scores, you can determine if you even want to submit the earlier test results at all.

Those scores should be available mid-September, so he can still submit quite early if everything is ready to go.

I say hold off unless there is a clear advantage to submitting exceptionally early (first-come, first-serve scholarships). The August SAT will be back in plenty of time.

 

He may also have additional awards or activities that pop up in the fall that would be worth including (is he in the running for National Merit?) You can always contact the admission office later to update the file for those extras, but it's nice to have them included up front.

Is he doing any extra prep for this SAT?

Yeah, he's doing prep scholar, so definately will wait.

No other awards expected this fall, he was an Intel ISEF finalist this spring, that will likely be his biggest accomplishment :)
