steppingstonemomma
A local class just fell through for my 11th grade son so now I am scrambling to find something else. He doesn't love school, but I'm still trying to expose him to as rigorous of a course-load as he will allow just to give him all options for the future. He seems to struggle with the ability to think deeply and express himself eloquently. I would love to find him some sort of online class that will help him learn to think deeply and give him guidance on expressing himself. The class that fell through was a Western Civ class taught by a former Veritas Press instructor, so it is quite a loss. I don't care what the subject matter is. Western Civ, Psychology, Theology, Comparative Religions, Logic, whatever... I just need a personal recommendation for something online. Thanks Tiffany
lisabees
Tiffany, dd14 is on the waiting list for WTMA's Socratic Seminar Discussion for similar reasons. Looking forward to hearing other suggestions.
PeppermintPattie
Biola's Torrey Academy used to have an online logic class that sounded really good, so you might check that.
RootAnn
I can recommend anything taught by Cindy Lange and she has a class for the fall called "Critical Thinking for Underclassmen" (scroll down). It'll be a Lit/Comp class and it is very pricey.
flor
We also highly recommend Cindy Lange.
MarkT
make sure your DS likes the subject matter - I think you need a "hook" to get him interested - boys are like that (speaking from experience) Would a good online AP in an interest topic such as "history" suffice? 1) Don't spend a small fortune 2) move on it soon
