scrapbookbuzz
Good morning, all! Welcome to the Lounge! Today in the Lounge we have some blueberry Pop-Tarts, bananas, decaf coffee, a variety of teas, pretzel rods, fresh blueberries, and some dried figs. Help yourself! Today's theme stems from the fact that the End of Swim Season Gathering is TOMORROW NIGHT and I'm not ready! I still have to make the tags for the coaches' gifts, buy the snacks to fill them, label medals, finish up the thank you gifts for my helpers, etc. What do YOU need to get done today? Here: other than what's listed above, I also really need to get some studying done. And some housework! What's for lunch today? Can I come over? Here: no idea! That's why I want to come over! What is your favorite musical? Here: not sure I have a favorite. Last night, dd and I went to see "Annie!" That's always a good one. I also other classics, such as "Brigadoon" and "Singin' in the Rain!" I've also seen (but wouldn't count among my favorites): "Hello, Dolly!" and "Wicked". Talk to me! :bigear:
Butter
Need to get done: Mostly just the typical stuff, but I really need to get my grocery order in by 12:29 so my husband can pick it up between 4:30 and 5. They need 4 hours to pick everything. Lunch: We're having leftovers. Not very exciting. Favorite Musical: It's a toss-up between Fiddler on the Roof and Sound of Music.
hjffkj
I've done most of what I need to do. I've already gone grocery shopping, pet sat, made this weeks apple sauce, started the chicken broth, and started the yogurt. I still need to fold laundry and quick clean the downstairs. I'd like to find time to write for half hour. Lunch: bean burritos since we've got left over beans. I'm sure one kid will complain so he can have pb and j. Favorite musical: well I only like musicals in movie form not performed live. Not sure why. My favorite is between Moulin Rouge and True Stories.
scrapbookbuzz
Good to see the both of you! I've managed to get some studying in for both my Bachelor of Ministry AND my Certified Herbalist tracks. My brain is full now! :p I may escape and go to Goodwill to peruse the books just to give my brain a break! Then I'll come back and tackle the swim team celebration stuff! Later!
Selkie
Hello! I need to get bills paid, paperwork done, clean my living room, and squeeze in my horse chores around the thunderstorms that are predicted for this afternoon and evening. Kids have golf and violin lessons. Lunch is salad for me. Kids will fend for themselves. Favorite musical? I don't have one, because I actually don't like musicals. My mom was a big musical fan and she made me sit through so many of them as a kid that I am now forever burned out on them. ;)
scrapbookbuzz
Hi, Selkie! :seeya: I'm back from Goodwill! I bought three books: The Zombie Survival Guide Breaking Free from Depression Websters New World Dictionary of Culinary Arts I have yet to decide whether I'm going to give the zombie book to my husband or just read it myself and leave it out. Sometimes he won't read something I actually give him but he'll read it if he sees me reading it. :001_rolleyes:
HomeAgain
Afternoon, Scrap! Today was a shopping day. :) My shirts are threadbare and the 7yo finally grew, so we went looking for a few new things. Unfortunately he grew the wrong direction, up instead of out, so looking for pants was a very sad adventure. We finally found slim jeans and grabbed the two pairs in his size - not the style he hoped for, but good enough. Turns out they only make skinny jeans in 'regular' and 'husky', not slim. As for me, I was ecstatic to find that shirts are back to being single layer, opaque matters again. That fad of see-through material was not welcome here. I want wash and wear. Only took 3 shops to find something that didn't look like a garage sale reject, which again, was fantastic. I expected another day wasted. Lunch today was 5 Guys. We don't eat fast food often but today was a special treat and much welcome after a long trip. Favorite musical............I'm not sure. I like most. I'll have to think on that one for a while.
luuknam
I had Jolly Rancher cherry pop-tarts for brunch. :leaving: I don't wanna think about what I need to get done today. Keep the kids alive, I guess. Celery just had a meltdown over 5 min of typing practice. Got him to do it anyway. He also whined about not wanting to learn Dutch. Got him to practice that anyway as well. I wanted to take the kids to library, playground, tkd. Now, I just want to go hide. FWIW, it's still a while before we'd have to leave, since TKD starts at 6:30, so I can hide and then do all of that. Oh, and I wanted to watch episode 7 of cybersecurity with Celery, but right now I don't want to deal with him (even though he likes cybersecurity). Musicals... I dunno. I liked Chess, I guess?
scrapbookbuzz
I think I'm addicted to y'all 'cause I keep peeking in to see who's (been) here instead of getting any work done! Now I really need to go at least clean off the dining room table so the kids can help me label swim team medals!
dirty ethel rackham
Yay. I finally found you guys again. Did I miss a vacation hold or something? Praying for the expansion of time and energy so yu can get things done without loads of stress. There isn't much I have to get done today, but lots I should do ...take photos of all my Usborne Books since I am ending my business and selling off my inventory and supplies. I should be filling out insurance forms from a car accident last October's. I should be preparing to sell most of our homeschooling stuff. But alas, I need introvert cave today. The last two days were judging for 4-H at our county fair. I was superintendent for a project area both days. Dd got her stuff done under the wire ... 3 Grand Champion awards out of 4 projects. I had a leftover bratwurst, some vinegar slaw and a bowl of cherries for lunch. My options are limited. We are on day 13 without a working fridge. The nightmare continues. Someone came out last night but they won't be back for 9 more days to install the part. GRRR. Thank goodness for the separate deep freeze and the dorm fridge and lots of coolers. Favorite musical? Hmmm ... The Sound of Music, I guess. I also love West Side Story and Evita. I'm dying to se Hamilton. I'm currently sitting in my parents' driveway waiting for my 4 yr old to stop having a meltdown and buckle up so we can go to the park on our way home. Maybe after the park I'll go to Goodwill, assuming he is in a good mood again.
dirty ethel rackham
I'm going to Goodwill later today to buy some "work clothes." I have an interview at a local tea shop tomorrow. I only have exercise clothes and going on a picnic clothes. I have one long summer skirt and top and that is about it. I hope they will be one of those reasonable retail establishments that treat their employees well, that have regular schedules and don't pull that "on call" crap. They don't pay well.enough for me to not be able to plan anything in advance. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
mom31257
Good afternoon! I've had a lot today. It began with someone coming to our house to look at a used car we are selling. It is a family member of a friend, so I didn't mind them coming here. And they want to buy it! Yeah!! Then I took ds to get pictures made at a portrait studio. I do this every year because my MIL does one of those school pictures every year with senior year in the middle. It keeps me motivated to do a school picture every year, so I'm thankful. I had a few errands to do, drop off a bible video study at the women's shelter, pick up farm eggs we buy, and get my glasses. I've been calling around to start getting prices on having a formal dinner and dance for our homeschool group. Church is tonight. My reflux was a little worse this morning ,despite being better for a day or two, so I didn't eat "lunch". I ate a banana with a bit of peanut butter mid-afternoon. My favorite musical is a tough one because I really love Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, and Les Mis. I've seen the first two live and in movies but Les Mis only in the last movie with Hugh Jackman.

scrapbookbuzz
Ellen, I was gone for a week, at church camp with my kids. Thank you for the prayer for today! There are WAY too many Goodwills near me and most within a 10 mi radius, I know which one to go to for what! Like the one nearest me is best for t-shirts and scrapbookbooks. One about 5 miles away has the best price on books, but a smaller selection. One that's about 5 miles away in the OTHER direction, has a large selection of books, and the prices are okay, but not the best. Another one not too far from that one is best for purses but when it comes to books, they seem to think they'r Half-Price Books! And there's one not too far away from me that they fit into an old AJ's Store that doesn't seem to have a truly good deal on anything really, although I've been known to buy a book or two there. dirty ethel rackham
This past week, I scored 7 large picture frames (ok, pictures where we tossed the artwork and kept the frame) for $36. Dd needed frames for her artwork for 4-H. She has several pastel drawings in the 18×24 or larger range. Since it was pastel, we needed glass covering since plastic or plexiglass could create a static charge and pull some of the dust off. It is amazing how expensively some ugly cheap prints we framed. The weirdest one was an enlarged image of a computer chip with a chip and plaque from 2001. Must have been in someone's office. I know the custom framing shop that did the job in the first place and that was probably over $100. scrapbookbuzz
Well, I had a brief moment of panic today when I thought for a full minute that we didn't have enough (participation) medals for our swim team members. The party is TOMORROW! Then I remembered a stash that's tucked away. Whew! However, I KNOW I don't have a full RSVP list for tomorrow. Just wish I could have a decent estimate of the number of swimmers that WILL be there! I had at least 3 more RSVP TODAY. Oi!
scrapbookbuzz
Margaret, I need a warning sign for your posts: "Have coffee in hand BEFORE reading!" as your posts always seem to wear me out just reading them! LOL Glad you made it in! Well, I have 6 out of 9 Thank You gifts completed for tomorrow night. I still need to get all the medals labeled. Right now, I think I may take a TylenolPM just so I KNOW I'll sleep! If I had a valerian root tea or my melatonin blend, I would take that instead! (Probably should have done that about an hour ago!) Then finish up everything tomorrow. If I don't make it here to open the Lounge tomorrow it's not because I'm avoiding you! It's because I ran away! :p Not really. More likely because it means I'm scrambling to get EVERYTHING finished before the party tomorrow night! I'll be so glad when this is DONE!
