Good morning, all! Welcome to the Lounge!

Today's theme stems from the fact that I really DO need a schedule! I have all these things that need to get done and I

don't have a scheduled time to do any of them! Gah! Time to get on that!

What's on your schedule today? Here: labeling swim team medals, finishing up last minute details for the coache's Thank You gifts, studying for me, and helping out at the box office tonight so dd and I can see Annie! for free!!!

What do you need to schedule but haven't yet? Here: EVERYTHING! But more specifically an actual start date for full-scheduled school, specific days for each subject, specific study times for me, etc.

Who still needs a vacation of their own? Here: ME!

Talk to me! :bigear:

Morning, Scrap!  Schedule today is as follows:

-chores

-breakfast

-set up doctor appointments for a well check

-family outing

-make lunch together

-wait for car inspector

-ds' math lesson

It's another wet and dreary day, so tonight will be curling up with a cuppa and a short board game.

Good afternoon!

Today is tutoring, picking up a video bible study to drop off at the women's shelter, and ds' swim banquet.

I still need to schedule math lessons for the first few weeks of the math classes I teach this year.

I could use another vacation but wouldn't want it by myself (well, maybe a day or two).

Good afternoon!

Today

The morning has evaporated and my tackle list is not much done. Trying to get out of here and go to the lake for a couple days. A friend invited us and I plan to leave mid afternoon. If Ds will entertain himself some, it could be a lovely mini-break. If he is in high-maintenance, attention-seeking mode, we might even come back early because it will be exhausting. I could just sit on the huge screened porch overlooking the lake and read for hours.

Schedule

I have been trying to get us back into a routine of morning schoolwork, but it is an uphill battle, for sure. Also, Dd has several projects for her volunteer gig and for scouts that are sucking up lots of time.

Lots of school prep left to do for me, but we will jump in next week because it will get us going. Even if we do 2/3 of a day all week, that will be fine.

I cannot finish scheduling and calendar planning because I am waiting on information from several places. I have a general outline, but not the final draft.

Vacation

A restful one? Well, we went to the beach in May and it was lovely! As restful as life with school age kids gets, I suppose. Summer has been very busy. Fun, but not restful. I couldn't take a real vacation this time of year, because of all the school things to do and all the about-to-start-ness in the air. Need to get back into a routine right now. That will actually be more restful than our current life!

We just do cash, with a nice handwritten note.

Yeah that is what we did for Christmas.    What is a good amount?

We gave him $50 for Christmas.  Not sure if that is low or not.

He is the main coach for their age level on team.   They have 4 other coaches for the older ones, who sometimes take his spot when he is gone.   We gave them $ too.

What are you doing for swim team coach thank yous?  We are having a party tonight for a coach we have had for 1.5 years and he is leaving.  Trying to figure out what we are going to give him.

I bought each of them an insulated lunch bag and am going to fill it with snacks because the pool manager told me, "They are always eating!"

Also, I'm going to make a tag with their name on one side and on the other side it will say, "Food Aid Bag" (stylized like a First Aid label).

I don't know how much they get. We have a team of 240+ kids, one adult head coach, several college or grad student coaches and several high school ones who help with the 10 and unders. We all give and the team moms divide it up. I give what I can afford. Most people on the team can do more than we can. Swim team is a harder gig than coaching basketball at the Y, imo. Our coaches are paid, this is not a volunteer thing.

I understand giving money but as a person whose love language is gifts, I just can't leave it at that. I'm compelled to get creative with it.  :D

Another swim team mom  I know would get her coaches really nice beach towels from Costco. Last year, I gave them picture frames with

team pictures in them. The year before that I bought the really nice microfiber throws Costco had on sale and I had them embroidered with

their names.

Work out. Check

Clean the kitchen. Check

Motivate the rising college sophomore to chew on the financial aid department of his university. Check. And thankfully, a reasonably good outcome!

Motivate the rising college sophomore to SUCK IT UP and drive to campus - four hours - to meet with his adviser because she doesn't return emails, and never wants to talk over the phone. Check. and was able to get an appointment that is reasonable given the drive time.

Ask rising college junior to check with his financial aid department. Check. Surprisingly pleasant and helpful, everything is A Okay, and he handled it like a pro.

Pull hair out of head due to finding out above rising junior never deposited his security deposit check. "I keep forgetting." Check was issued the first week of April. Sigh...Check has been deposited. Apparently I am capable of giving a look which motivated him to go directly to the bank.

Discuss art with rising high school senior. CHECK!!! Oh my word, the most reluctant fine arts student EVAH!

And as for vacation, I am taking the boys to Cuyahoga Falls National Park and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland, OH area) Aug. 5-8. Short vacation but very much looking forward to it. DH can't go. He has too many work projects being juggled at one time so he will be a bachelor with the dog.

luuknam, I think it's in the air! I slept most of last evening, woke up for about an hour, then slept through the night. Brain has not been functional until about an hour ago

when I finally succumbed to indulging in a Mt. Dew! Hope you feel better!

FaithManor, glad it all finally got sorted!

Okay, I REALLY need to get off the computer now! See yas!

I was busy up to about 3 and now I've been wasting time on the computer just like my kids!

I did do a lot today, but I failed to make most of the phone calls I need to make.

I did make one. I'm currently feeling burned out from making phone calls and scheduling appointments.

We have done dentist for 3 of us and then back again for fillings, pediatrician for 2, eye dr for 2, and speech therapy for 1 with ongoing appointments to schedule.

I hate stuff like that, but at least it's done for this summer.

I need to touch base with a few homeschool classes and so I must get back on that phone tomorrow!

Oldest dd needs to complete a few details on a few old classes paperwork so that I can neatly put them a folder to hand over to her hybrid school and they can include it on the transcript.  A little bit each day and we can get this done in 2 weeks.

I'm still not getting much accomplished today. *sigh* My brain was "awake" for about two hours and now I'm back to fog.

Not really sure what it is except maybe the unusually overcast day. The Mt. Dew helped for a bit. I can't be this foggy right now as

I still need to work the box office tonight!

Well, I was off to a good start today, out the door with all the kids by 7:40am, got derailed around 10:30 (how did we end up watching sports on TV??), am back on top of it right now, but about to be late if I don't start dinner soon. So, I think I have a good schedule, I just need to actually stick to it, lol.

I need to schedule: checkups for 3 out of 4 kids. Everyone was seen in May for the annual physical, but now there are "little issues" I want to address. Also the baby's baptism, eek!

The kids' summer day camp thing is offering a campout night this coming Friday. I found out about it last Wednesday. I still haven't committed. We like camping, but it looks like it's going to rain, and the past 2 years we've been the only ones to stay in our tent through the rain. Everyone else went home in the middle of the night, lol, then came back for the breakfast. It's so much work to set up the tent for 16 hours, and idk if I want to go through all of that, with the baby, and be the only family that actually does it. So... still deciding.

I'll take that vacation for me, please!!
