vent, - really angry disappointed vent . . .

dd  really liked her wedding cake.  they liked it so much, they ordered several since.  including new years because her friend was here and could take it to her  in texas.

 

so - this week - she's hiking the half-dome.  we thought it would be really fun to take them a cake.  so, I printed out the pic of the half-dome I wanted, and ordered the cake.  the decorator she used, moved to another store. . . . I didnt' want to drive an hour to go to that store. . . so, I stayed with the one in town. 

 

I didn't know what I wanted written, so I was going to add it. . . . figured I could add it anytime.  it's not a big deal.   if worse came to worst,  I could do it myself. 

 

I scheduled it to pick it up this afternoon- I call and try to tell them what I want written.  they can't find the order.  there's a limit  to how long you can stay and hold, - the it will ring you through the store operator.  I went to her at least three times.  each time, heavy accents - I spell my name . . . they're all looking.  I'm asked if I called the correct store -have to prove it by telling them where they are.  finally, someone picks up, I repeat my query - i'm told "yes, we have it.  it's ready you can come anytime and pick it up."  I'm having adrenal/thyroid issues that are very inhibiting - dh is running errands prior to leaving town tomorrow.  he goes to pick it up.  they've never heard of it.

 

I have no cake for her.  I am so angry, disappointed, wanting to cry . . .. then dh asks if I can make one - I haven't done a cake in years - and thyroid/adrenal .. hello!

That sounds so frustrating and you wanted to do such a sweet thing for your daughter! I doubt she would want you to be this stressed about it though. There will be plenty of other times for cake!

That is horrible!  I hate when you trust someone to do something correctly that is very important to you, and they screw it up.  Then on top of it, either lied about finding it (to probably get you off the phone), or found it and it was mislabeled....and didn't bother to fix the problem and it is still sitting there. 

 

Ugh, I would be upset too!

I would make a note to next time order from the decorator an hour away. Sounds like it would be worth the trip in comparison. Then, let it go. Cake is not worth that much stress.  :grouphug:

we tracked down the cake decorator we liked.  she goes into work this morning at 8am. (she wasn't there yesterday)  we were going to call and see if it was possible for her to do something this morning. . . . Now, I'm going to urgent care for a finger infection . . . .

 

I made a cake last night, but had planned on decorating it this morning. (just in case the decorator wasn't able to.)  so, we'll see.
