bolt.
I need to submit an education plan to my 'supervising school board' according to provincial regulations -- which I was expecting. My supervising school board advises that my education plan should include a "family mission statement" and three to five values-based goals that we have for homeschooling. That's not exactly something I've put a lot of thought into. These are optional, but I don't exactly want to start out by rejecting advice that could be valuable. Here's what the instructions say: "We strongly encourage you to begin with the end in mind! Starting this process by considering what the most important things in your family are will help you to prioritize your time and efforts. We highly encourage you to begin by creating a family mission statement. "Using your family mission statement as a filter, determine your top 3-5 homeschooling goals for the year. In determining your goals you will need to answer these questions: 1) What sort of individuals are we raising? 2) What are we raising them for? 3) What is the purpose of education? When creating goals please consider 1) Relational Goals - with our heavenly Father, family and others around us 2) Practical Goals 3) Academic Goals. "Use the ‘big picture’ work you have done to help with the remainder of your education plan." Have any of you ever done work like this? What did you come up with? Was the exercise valuable? Or should I just skip it?
KathyBC
I read Deb Bell's book when we first began homeschooling and did scratch down some goals for our family. I think it was valuable, not sure how I would have felt sharing it with the supervising school.
