MommyLiberty5013
In September, we supposed to rent an RV and drive to the Black Hills and then on to Yellowstone with the kids. But, during the past week or two Yellowstone has had 460+ small earthquakes (called a swarm). Most are in the 2-3 range. I believe the highest have been 4s. I know YNP, gets earthquake swarms every few years. We will probably just watch this situation over the next two months. But, would this cause you not to visit Yellowstone? Is this no big deal? AmandaVT
I'd go - just looked at the USGS map and though it's active, officials don't sound worried. http://www.newsweek.com/yellowstone-supervolcano-earthquake-swarm-eruption-risk-627189
KrissiK
We have friends who are visiting there right now!! They've having a blast!! I see FB pictures every day. No mention of earthquakes. You should go.

J-rap
I would go as planned. You can always keep an eye on things as time gets closer. I'd assume the park would be required to post a warning if they really thought it was dangerous for tourists.
Jean in Newcastle
Earthquakes that little are often not even felt. The 4 would be but not necessarily the 2s and 3s. Instruments can detect them however. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Carol in Cal.
Go, those are really little. And don't read about the active supervolcano under the whole area until you get back. Edited June 22, 2017 by Carol in Cal.

JFSinIL
Go. If/when Yellowstone does blow, it won't matter where you are anyway. Edited June 22, 2017 by JFSinIL
Jean in Newcastle
You seem super fixated on earthquakes. As this http://science.howstuffworks.com/nature/natural-disasters/earthquake6.htm explains, microquakes (3 and under on the richter scale) aren't even felt by humans.
scrapbookbuzz
That happens in Washington state, too, and people still live there. GO. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Also, and this happens to me a lot - one topic seems to keep popping up over and over in a short period of time. I guess it is front of mind. Generally, I do not care.
Guest
Those are tiny, no big deal. You probably wouldn't even feel most of them unless they're very close to the surface where you are. Go and have a blast!
gardenmom5
I'd go. Go to the lower falls of the yellowstone river as the sun hits them. It makes a rainbow. I'll try to find one of pix. I'll have to do this at home on my computer. Edited June 22, 2017 by gardenmom5
