Is there a language mechanics curriculum like this?

Recommended Posts

What I really want to do with DS12 is go through a short (not a whole year), explicit (not implicit) instruction almost entirely focused on punctuation. I want something that will have a lesson that is something like, "This is a colon (:). It is used in these instances: blah, blah, blah. Now, add a colon to the following samples... Now do a short review of the punctuation we have learned and choose the correct missing punctuation."

Is there anything like this? I am thisclose to making my own.

He needs it to be explicit; I've already learned the difference between my implicit and explicit learners and this is something I beleive he will learn best if it is totally uncluttered and utterly straight-forward.

ETA: Wow. It turned my colon and parenthesis into a smiley.

I'm ditheting between Jensen's and JAG. I like that Jensen's is closer for an older student, but I also like that JAG has a DVD program. I like that Jensen's has page samples (at Rainbow); JAG doesn't have this. Jensen's is cheaper, too. JAG looks simpler, but it's hard to tell.

Have you seen the sample of JAG on Christianbook.com?

No, I didn't go to Christianbook. I only looked at it on Rainbow.

I ordered Jensen's yesterday. So, hopefully it will suit my purposes. 😊
